QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education Strategist II LDBD K -21, or behavior disorders 5-12
- Strong working knowledge of FBA and BIPS. Experience working with diverse populations. Ability to use cultural knowledge to enhance student learning Initiative.
- A self-starter with a willingness to receive additional training as necessary. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the District may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
The employee serves as a teacher leader in specialized instruction and case management for students with disabilities. As a leader and specialist, the employee works with coaches, and supports teachers and support staff in identifying, developing, and implementing curriculum, assessment, and instructional strategies designed to improve the learning of students with disabilities. The special education teacher shares in the responsibility for student safety, collaboration and attention to each student’s readiness to learn including needed guidance, discipline, and welfare.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collaboratively plan with classroom teachers, building/district level support staff and administrators, AEA, and parents of students as part of an educational team. Serve instructional minutes and all components of the student’s Individualized Education Plan. Develops the students IEP in collaboration with the team. Oversees and implements the behavior plan, while providing training and support to all team members. Utilizes data to guide all decision making. Promotes an inclusive and equitable school experience for all.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 184 days total = Teacher calendar year. Salary and calendar year to be established by the Board of Education. $5,000 signing bonus available.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the District's policy on Evaluation, State Statute, and any applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement.
