Job Summary: Under broad supervision, the Carpenter assists in coordinating the engineering, maintenance, renovation, and construction of facilities. Performs a variety of semi‐skilled and skilled building trades work in the repair, maintenance or construction of state buildings and related structures. Moves furniture or equipment within state buildings and facilities. May serve as a lead worker and/or supervise support staff. Position requires on‐call availability. The Carpenter also performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND one (1) year of related experience in maintenance and/or general building construction; OR Associate's/Vocational/Technical degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND Two (2) years of experience in maintenance and/or general building construction; OR High school diploma or GED AND Five (5) years of experience in maintenance and/or general building construction; OR One year of experience at the lower level Construction Spec 2 (FEP051) or position equivalent.
Note: Must be able to meet the agency’s requirements to be an authorized driver.
Competencies: General knowledge of assembling and disassembling modular furniture systems, moving furniture, equipment, and using the proper handling skills with moving equipment. Ability to read, interpret and apply construction plans, specifications and blueprints. Ability to lift, push, pull and carry heavy items. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
