Team Rubicon (TR) is seeking a Manager, Government Relations, to join our hardworking and forward-thinking field operations team.  Our ideal candidate will be a driven self-starter, with a strong understanding of the legislative process, noticeable interpersonal skills, an unmatched thirst for knowledge and a desire to apply these skills to support the growth and mission of Team Rubicon.  You are passionate about supporting our teams of veterans and kick-ass civilians respond to natural disasters around the world, as well as supporting the growth of a non-profit that doesn’t settle but finds new and innovative ways of making things happen.

In this role, you will represent and articulate TR’s mission on Capitol Hill by attending meetings, conducting outreach to members of Congress and keeping track of all legislative efforts, as well as maintaining a steady awareness of relevant and ongoing policies, priorities, hearings, briefings, etc. You will ensure that TR is always updated of these activities and be able to provide strong technical guidance on each.

This position reports to TR’s VP of Government Relations and Emergency Management, and is based out of Washington D.C.  Only the most awesome candidates should apply, period.

Duties:

  • Develop/maintain liaisons with municipalities, county departments, and similar entities to facilitate plan developments, response effort coordination and exchanges of personnel and equipment
  • Coordinate legislative efforts by working with state, local, and federal governments, while helping TR meet its legislative goals by creating policy proposals and working with government agencies/citizens
  • Monitor proposed legislation at the federal, state, and local level which may impact the activities/goals of TR
  • Create strong relationships and foster existing relationships, while developing and implementing strategies to secure support/funding for furthering Team Rubicon’s objectives
  • Prepare substantive policy materials, including crafting the necessary letters to the Administration, federal agencies and Congress as well as drafting issue briefs and fact sheets for the necessary audience

Experience and Background:

  • The ideal candidate has 5-10 years total work experience
  • 3-5 years of experience in government relations with a background working in a federal legislative/administrative office, government relations firm or similar environment
  • Knowledge and understanding of emergency management
  • Bachelor’s degree in international development/Relations, Public Policy, Government Relations, Emergency Management or related field
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct research and develop policy with a strong knowledge of the legislative process
  • Strong attention to detail and time management abilities
  • Ability to create structure and accomplish goals efficiently
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
