Job Description:The Plant Controller is a key leader in the finance group responsible for cost accounting, process improvements, month-end close, plant performance and cost analysis, budgeting, reporting, and forecasting. The Plant Controller will be hands-on and assist with the design, development, and coordination of analysis and tracking of process improvements, capital projects, and other business analysis. The incumbent will provide financial direction to the plant and provide recommendations to improve site performance. The position holds the responsibility to effectively communicate plant(s) manufacturing results and ensure compliance with company policies and GAAP. The position will work closely with Plant and Sales personnel. Strengths in accuracy, problem solving, and flexibility are critical.
Principal Accountabilities:Develop, implement, and manage analytical models to budget, analyze, report, and provide guidance on factory conversion costs.Participate in the month-end closing process and analysis, working closely with Corporate FP&A.Analyze variances and communicate explanations to management with recommended actions.Provide foundry operations management with financial leadership and support, serving as a liaison between Manufacturing and Finance.Work closely with foundry operations to ensure accurate and timely capture of all production costs and effective analysis of production variances.Develop, monitor, and analyze the foundry variable, overhead, and fixed costs.Develop the plant budget for product costs and cost centers.Review Capital Expenditure requests and provide financial analysis to support those projects.Estimate product costs to support quoting activities.Monitor cost controls to maintain the accuracy of standard costs by reviewing transactions and production order accuracy.Work closely with the materials manager to improve transaction accuracy related to the movement of materials in the plants.Team up with Maintenance leadership to track and report work order costs.Must work across organization boundaries and all levels of the company to achieve plant and corporate objectives.Share best practices across the finance team, e.g., process improvements, financial modeling, and procedure changes.Monitor and implement plant internal controls (in conjunction with corporate policies) as necessary to ensure reporting integrity, safeguard company assets, and identify risks.Ensure proper accounting in accordance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.Perform other ad-hoc activities as required by the Finance department.
QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.Minimum 8 years of experience in cost accounting, financial analysis, and controlling roles.Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial principles.Experience in manufacturing or related industry is highly desirable.Proficiency in financial modeling and analysis.Advanced skills in MS Excel and other financial software.Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
