Job Posting for Math Teacher at TEC Phoenix Academy
The Education Cooperative (TEC) Phoenix Academy is an alternative Middle and High School. We have an opening for school year 2024-2025 for a Math teacher with experience working with Special Education students. This is an exciting opportunity for an educator who desires to serve Middle and High School students with academic, emotional and behavioral challenges that necessitate a small structured educational setting. TEC Phoenix Academy has a vision of high expectations and is committed to providing a variety of individualized student supports. TEC Phoenix Academy adheres to a school-wide positive behavioral program that serves to maximize the potential of all students to achieve academic proficiency and post-secondary success.
REPORTS TO: Principal/Program Director
RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Assess students’ skills to determine their needs and to develop teaching plans
-Adapt lessons to meet the needs of students
-Develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for each student, schedule and chair IEP Meetings
-Plan, organize, and assign activities that are specific to each student’s abilities
-Teach and mentor students as a class, in small groups, and one-on-one
-Implement IEPs, assess students’ performance, and track their progress
-Discuss student’s progress with parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators
-Supervise and mentor teacher assistants who work with students with disabilities
-Prepare and help students transition from grade to grade and post graduation
-Maintain effective, ongoing communication with colleagues and district representatives to improve student outcomes
-Collaborate in the development of IEP planning notes and IEP progress reports
-Maintain updated student records, including IEPs, professional reports and required data for all students, in accordance with student
records regulations
-Participate in and contribute to professional development events, coaching sessions, and other trainings at the program level
-Participate in and contribute to collaborative meetings at the program level, to improve practice and student outcomes
-Integrate technology into the classroom practice as an instructional tool and for personal productivity.
QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED:
-DESE Certification
-Masters’ Degree from accredited College or University
-Massachusetts teacher licensure in Math Grades 5-12
-Massachusetts teacher licensure in Moderate Disabilities Grades 5-12 preferred
