Analytical Chemist - GC
TECH 2000 is currently seeking Chemist candidates experienced with Gas Chromatography analysis for an opportunity at a client's refinery in Port Arthur, TX.
The ideal candidate would have Bachelors in Chemistry and 5 year's experience working as a Chemist in a chemical manufacturing or third party analytical laboratory performing complex/non-routine GC analyses via ASTM methodology.
Major Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Support and perform data analysis for the Lab
- Perform laboratory experiments and tests in order to produce reliable and precise data to support scientific investigations in accordance to standardized methodology (ASTM/UOP, etc) and company protocols (SOP)
- Develop new methods and procedures - method validation/formulation, etc.
- Identify analytical challenges, suggest and implement resolution, oversee implementation
- Perform routine & non-routine lab analyses as required
- Routinely operate a variety of standard lab equipment including: Gas Chromatography and its various detectors (MS, FID, TCD, etc.) and SFC; Spectroscopic instruments including ICP, XRD/XRF, FTIR and UV-Vis; Distillation apparatus, Titrimeters (Karl Fischer, Bromine Number, etc.)
Qualifications/Competencies:
- BS Chemistry with 5 y experience as a Chemist in a chemical/petroleum manufacturing environment
- Advanced knowledge of Chromatography, specifically Gas Chromatography; analytical method development, ability to learn new analytical instrumentation and basic knowledge of engineering.
- Strong mechanical aptitude demonstrated through the ability to troubleshoot and maintain lab instrumentation
- Solid math and statistical analysis capabilities - able to read and interpret data and know when to escalate, how to determine issues in production and how to resolve them.
- Computer Skills including Chromatography Data Systems, LIMS, MS Word/Excel/Outlook
- Knowledge of standardized methodology - ASTM/UOP, etc.

- Wage: $30-38/hour
