Our company has an immediate opening for a Control Panel Technician/Wiring Technician. TDC is a custom machine builder that serves many diverse industries. These industries include Telecommunications, Automation, Robotics, Food, and Automotive.

Job Summary

Assembly and wiring of custom Electrical Control Panels and corresponding machines from schematics. This position is responsible for the physical assembly and wiring of control panels and machines for custom industrial equipment. The Technician will fabricate controls from a print, including layout and physical mounting of components to the back panel, wiring of all components, installation of control panel onto equipment, and wiring all components on the machine back to the panel. Wire routing on machines may include hard conduit, flexible conduit, drilling for tie downs and conduit clamps. Pneumatic panels are required to be built from print as well. The ideal candidate will also have experience in reading pneumatic schematics and routing air tubing for machines but not required. All duties must be performed in accordance with all company policies and procedures.

Primary Skills

  • High School Graduate or equivalent
  • Technical school attendance a plus
  • Ability to understand and work from schematics is required
  • Knowledge of electrical theory and terminology
  • Basic computer skills for printing labels and accessing information on the computer is required

Role Requirements:

  • Dimension and layout of back panels and enclosures from print
  • Mounting of components to back panels and enclosures
  • Routing and bundling of wire and cables neatly to meet wiring standards
  • Routing and wiring all components on the machine back to the panel box
  • Point to point wiring of relays, controls, PLCs, I/O Modules, VFDs, Interfaces, & Instrumentation
  • Troubleshoot panels as needed to eliminate wiring errors and component malfunctions
  • Maintain red line drawing mark-ups of changes required during fabrication
  • Communicate red line changes to Engineer or Team Leader for revision prior to completion
  • Communicates effectively with all team members, leads, builders, engineers and the Project Manager
  • The ability to meet deadlines under pressure
  • A high standard of quality and attention to detail
  • Perform other duties as assigned or as needed
  • Job may require standing for 8 hours while wiring panels, Sitting on the floor wiring machines, climbing ladders to reach components on machines that need wiring.
  • Job requires drilling, tapping, may include using a miter saw, or grinding.
  • Candidate maybe be asked to punch holes in enclosure boxes following pre-made prints. This requires the use of a pneumatic punch and drilling.
