Plant Manager
JOB SUMMARY:
The Plant Manager directs and coordinates the day-to-day activities of the manufacturing plant to achieve both the plant financial and operating objectives. This position manages all plant operations with overall responsibilities for safety, production, maintenance, human resources, quality and other production-related activities.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Drives accountability and adherence to Safety, Quality, Production and other policies and procedures.
- Responsible for developing, managing and optimizing talent throughout the plant. Manages plant operational employees in the efficient performance of their duties, and the effective operation of the facility.
- Responsible for directing plant activities to achieve optimum utilization of equipment and maximum efficiency in operations.
- Responsible for assuring conformance of finished products to the customer specifications, division and industry.
- Works closely with the plant personnel to ensure a safe and healthy work environment by taking an active role in the plant's safety programs and goals.
- Recommends capital improvements for the plant which result directly in improved safety conditions, quality of finished product, resulting in added value, improved efficiency, or reduction of plant variable or fixed operating costs.
- Plans and oversees the implementation of capital improvement projects to ensure adherence to approved plans, schedules and budgets.
- Responsible for engaging employees in a continuous improvement culture.
- Responsible for all aspects of financial management of the facility. Controls financial spending of all departments.
- Prepares periodic reports pertaining to plant utilization, labor efficiencies, materials usage, scrap, etc.
- Works closely with customer contacts (quality and purchasing) to insure coordination of activities and facilitation of customer relationship.
- Keeps informed of technical and management developments to assure continued personal growth and to coach employees toward optimum performance.
- Works with direct reports to assure coordination of production activity and delivery schedules.
- May be assigned special projects.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Proven ability to drive results through key operational metrics
- Ability to appropriately Set the Course, Mobilize Talent and Run the Business
- Working knowledge of budgets and financial statements.
- Background in manufacturing methods, quality control and process improvement programs, preferably in a food-related industry.
- BA/BS degree in a related field.
- Proven track record in Lean manufacturing and success in implementation of redesigned processes
- Eight to ten years related experience in manufacturing environment with positions of increasing responsibility.
- Experience in plastics molding manufacturing helpful, but not required.
- Experience with ERP system, IQMS a plus.
- Ability to visually and mentally make priority decisions / judgement calls based on the situation at hand.
- Six Sigma Black Belt, Green Belt or Lean Master Certification preferred
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Travel will be minimal (less than 10%).
