Position Description
This position is being filled by TechSur Solutions, in support of a wide range of strategic communications planning activities for a contract at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), specifically a large Federal law enforcement organization working to enhance their brand for external and internal audiences. The person filling this role is responsible for Executive Strategic Communications and Media Training, along with Project Management and Strategic Communications and Engagement.
Job Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will:
- Be a liaison with clients to develop, implement, monitor, and continuously improve media communications activities, campaigns, and short, mid-, and long-term plans.
- Help train Senior Field & Headquarters Leaders to communicate more effectively with media representatives or other external stakeholders and provide specific feedback for improvement. Within this area, the candidate will:
o Develop and monitor metrics to assess the effectiveness of communications plans.
o Develop and review communications materials intended for public or internal release, including social media content, multi-media, infographics, press releases, and content for events public events and conferences.
o Support planning for press events, domestic and international conferences, and other special events.
o Develop and deliver media appearance and public speaking training for leadership across both headquarters and field locations. This training may be conducted in both virtual and face-to-face environments, as required. The tailored curriculum should include real-time training scenarios, with feedback and metrics collected after training sessions.
o Conduct Executive-level briefings to provide project updates and performance metrics to customer leadership.
o Conduct research to develop a more nuanced understanding of stakeholder perspectives, using methodologies including data analytics, internal and external stakeholder interviews, leadership interviews, focus groups, and open-source research.
Required Skills/Qualifications
- 4 years of total professional experience: 2-3 years of experience in strategic communications consulting.
- Experience with developing strategic communications plans and campaigns, including social media, news media, etc.
- Experience with training personnel for interacting with media organizations.
- Experience planning conferences and media events.
- Demonstrates abilities and success in research, data gathering, and compiling and presenting results in client-ready deliverables.
- Experience producing data visualizations and dashboards using Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms.
- Ability to utilize MS Office suite to prepare presentations and gain stakeholder buy-in.
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline.
Desired Skills/Qualifications
- Possess a DHS Public Trust or equivalent clearance.
- Strong critical thinking skills, writing skills, and communication skills to understand clients’ problems and identify solutions to address challenges.
- Organized, flexible, adaptable, team-oriented, and able to operate effectively in ambiguous situations.
- Familiarity with graphics design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, or similar tools.
- Demonstrates abilities and success in working with clients to understand and document needs, translating those needs into requirements.
- Experience managing clients in a dynamic federal environment with multiple cross-functional stakeholders, where priorities can shift rapidly.
- The ability to identify and define new process improvement opportunities for the program.
- Familiarity with law enforcement organizations or large federal organizations
