POSITION SUMMARY:
The purpose of the Senior Operations Manager role is to establish a first-class material and information flow from product inception to shipping to meet customer demand and deliver operational and financial plans. This is a business transformation role with the vocation of implementing an effective pull process.
The Senior Operations Manager is accountable for providing leadership over the planning, execution, and control of the operations for all the product value streams of the Riviera Beach Tecomet sites.
Master scheduling, backend operations (machining flow cells, laser marking, finishing, clean room, and assembly), shipping, inventory control and logistics fall directly under the supervision of the Senior Operations Manager.
To be successful in the role the Senior Operations Manager must establish trust and influence through strong partnership with the front-end operation leader (primary and secondary machining) outside vendors and support function leaders (HR, procurement, quality, engineering and lean manufacturing).
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsibility for leading a technical team in achieving business and operational objectives.
- Directs activities of staff members engaged in receiving materials, storage, logistics, demand & supply planning analysis, production scheduling and inventory control.
- Ensure nonvalue-added activity is reduced in all manufacturing processes by using lean / kaizen tools and techniques.
- Assumes responsibility for the proper sourcing and procurement of services for the facilities.
- Controls, measures, and regulates efficient inventory levels of purchased components in support of manufacturing operations.
- Take responsibility for operation costs and conformance with budgets and targets
- Promote improvement in equipment and process performance.
- Work in conjunction with Engineering, Quality and Production to ensure Operational objectives are met.
- Assist with the introduction of new products and equipment
- Partner with engineering to meet yield and efficiency standards
- Identify new manufacturing agents to improve throughput and increase tool life while driving down costs.
- Responsible for production order execution and working with all production departments to insure that on time delivery, cycle time and fill rate goals are met.
- Oversees the contract review process of current and new products
- Organize and control shift patterns to meet the needs of the business.
- Streamline existing production/process lines. Implement automation where required.
- Drive implementation of solutions to issues identified during Gemba walks.
- Comply with all relevant training requirements and adhere to relevant associated documentation.
- Ensure that production personnel are aware of and adhere to all procedures and cGMP requirements.
- Promote awareness and follow Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Policies in accordance with best practices and legal requirements.
- Promote and uphold company performance standards and ideology (on time delivery, quality, lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, housekeeping & work ethic).
- Manage, Motivate and Develop the Operations Team.
- Direct Reports Supply Chain and production personnel.
- Provide technical leadership for operations personnel involved in process engineering and development activities.
- Implement, monitor, and review training and development plans.
- Develop harmonious inter-departmental working relationships within operations and other functions, and ensure employees within operations have the necessary information and resources to effectively perform their jobs.
- Address any staff discipline or grievance issue, maintaining appropriate records in accordance with company procedures.
- Coaching and developing employees for career growth and development
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE DESIRED
- Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; plus 7 years of operational experience in a manufacturing environment
- Minimum of 5 years experience in Supply Chain, Materials Management, Production Control, management, or leadership experience preferred
- Lean Training and Kaizen Preferred
- Medical Device experience preferred.
- Proficient in the use and optimization of ERP systems.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Ability to work independently and exercise judgment
- Previous EHS experience
- Must have knowledge of bills of materials and routings, inventory control techniques, and ERP/MRP best practices and techniques.
- Advanced Microsoft skills, particularly MS Excel, Pivot tables, and ability to download and manipulate data quickly and easily using advanced functions
- Expert knowledge of master scheduling practices and capacity analysis.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Some positions are situated in an office environment. For those positions, they routinely use standard office equipment which may include computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
- Workers exposed to the production floor could be frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration, and moderate to loud noise conditions.
- Well-lighted, heated/or air-conditioned indoor office/production setting with adequate ventilation.
