Prepare raw and preformed material for forging operations, utilizing but not limited to using blasters, Pangborns, Belt Grinders, Hand Grinders, Buffers, Mills, Ban Saws, Chop Saws, Trim Presses, Arbor Press, Tumblers, and F.P.I.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Examines and feels surface of work piece for defects.
- Examines perform material with the use of Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection.
- Set up and operation of the cut-off machinery.
- Verifies dimensions of stock cut and accuracy of cuts.
- Replaces dull or damaged saw blades and lubricates machines.
- Completes daily cut-off logs.
- Submits first piece samples to quality control.
- Selects grade of abrasive belt, wheel, or disk according to specifications, knowledge of abrasives, and condition of metal, and attaches to grinder.
- Starts grinder and moves it over surface of work piece to remove scratches, laminated metal, excess weld material, and burs.
- Polishes ground areas with finer abrasive to produce smooth, unmarred surface.
- Operates hand grinders, belt sanders, buffers, pangborn, blaster, auto blasters, mills, arbor press, and trim press.
- Ensures accurate process flow of products by following department procedures.
- Locates WIP through knowledge of the various production processes, and an ability to read production routing tags, etc.
- Maintains production levels at various workstations assuring an even flow of processing.
- Assists in the processing of all production operations when process dictates.
- Monitors and records all associated dimensions on the product to ensure conformance to all customer specifications.
- Identifies maintenance needs of equipment and reports to Forge Operations Team Leader.
- Performs preventative maintenance checks ‘for applicable’ equipment.
- Completes quality documents such as SPC charts, routers, and tags.
- Counts parts to ensure all products are accounted for going in and out of all operations.
- Checks router tags for completeness and verifying process.
- Maintains housekeeping and safety standards in work area.
- Additional duties as requested by management.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Technical Skills
- Knowledge of inspection equipment such as calipers, micrometers, CMM, height gages, and comparators.
- Working knowledge of trim press operations and forging equipment.
- Knowledge of blueprint reading and geometric tolerancing.

The employee will frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
