Job Description
Position Overview:
TED is looking for a Curation Specialist for TED@Work. We are looking for someone with excellent information management skills and a sharp editorial eye, who can continue to shape the way clients experience TED ideas within the corporate learning context.
Core to this role is client curation: based on client needs and their learning goals (provided by the TED@Work Customer Success team), producing high-quality curation recommendations for clients. (80% of role).
This individual will also maintain the relevance of the TED@Work library and client-facing playlists, which includes the following responsibilities: assigning new talks from TED.com, the TEDx review pipeline, and other pipelines to add to the TED@Work library (on a quarterly basis); overseeing the strategic retirement of older talks (annually); maintaining accurate metadata for courses, including tagging and talk classification; and refreshing client-facing playlists on the TED@Work platform (20% of role).
The ideal candidate for this role has previous experience in content development and content curation, with a minimum 4 years of experience in these domains. Deep experience with TED’s library of content is a huge plus. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of and/or interest in the Learning & Development space.
This role will become an expert in TED’s content (across TED Talks, TED-Ed animations, podcasts and TED original series) and manage a growing collection that comprises TED’s library for corporate learning. Thus, we are looking for someone who can absorb and maintain a mental inventory of an extensive library of content and metadata, using their knowledge of TED ideas and L&D industry trends to make smart editorial decisions, and informed recommendations for clients.
This individual will also be tasked with other content-focused projects, including helping with data hygiene and drafting playlist descriptions.
Responsibilities:
- Learning and staying up-to-date on the TED content library (including published, and to-be-published talks) to maintain the freshness and relevance of the TED@Work collection.
- Executing client curation based on clients’ learning goals and strategies: translating client needs into which target skills/insights to support, and which TED Talks would be most relevant.
- Executing an editorial workflow involving curation, metadata creation, and database organization.
- Maintaining a complex, multi-partner database that reflects partner curation.
- Staying up-to-date on L&D industry trends: understanding the evolving content and business needs of customers.
- Assisting with market research.
- Assisting with other content development and marketing execution tasks as needed.
- Other duties and special projects across TED@Work may be assigned.
- Willingness to contribute however possible to ensure overall effectiveness and positive impact of position.
Qualifications
Knowledge and Experience
- Up-to-date knowledge of the Learning & Development landscape: existing, new and emerging learning trends, common or pressing problems companies are solving for, competitor offerings, and beyond.
- Demonstrated ability to adhere to a “brand voice” and TED’s brand positioning.
- Experience owning or maintaining a large content library and/or a Content Management System (CMS).
- Experience in project management, which will be necessary in being able to produce curation recommendations against strict client deadlines.
- An understanding of editorial/production workflows between content development and design.
- Prior content curation experience is a huge plus.
- Fluency in a second language is a huge plus.

- Ability to synthesize client’s needs and apply them to TED@Work curation outputs, finding adjacent talks and making creative recommendations where needed.

Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the content development space.
- B.A. or equivalent.
- Must be based in the NYC area and able to work a hybrid schedule.

Salary range: $70,000 - $80,000
