Overview:
Our client, provider of the premier application for inland water way operations, is seeking a dynamic Team Leader for its New Orleans-based Engineering Team. Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, you will work with a combination of US-based software engineers as well as a contracted off-shore development team. You will have a proven track record of growing an organization through a high growth period. You will advocate for technology, infrastructure, quality, security, performance, and operational ownership and continuously improve both process and people. You will be responsible for developing a high performing engineering team. The ideal candidate worked as a developer using the Microsoft stack on a real-time Windows IoT and an Azure hosted cloud platform. This is a hands-on leadership position ideal for an aspiring (or established) leader who wishes to continue coding. Thus, you must be able to code in C#, be comfortable working with a complex database (relational and NoSQL), be familiar with Azure, and appreciate application security.
What you will be doing:
- Lead an eight person (6 developers and 2 QA), on-shore/off-shore, Engineering Team.
- Assume day-to-day responsibility for the development of the product suite by overseeing an Agile Scrum based development life cycle.
- Develop flexible and reusable code that stretches our capabilities.
- Collaborate with the CTO on technical priorities, processes, and set the direction for the Engineering Team.
- Assist with customer presentations, perform technical research, and oversee special projects.
What you must have:
- Previous experience as a software developer in a cloud hosted .Net application is required.
- Some experience leading a distributed development team using an Agile SDLC and Azure DevOps.
- Experience with real-time, data intensive applications used to feed AI/ML applications is desirable.
- Previous experience with Azure and optionally Terraform is desirable.
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts and challenges for non-technical audiences.
- Basic understanding of automated deployment workflows and Microsoft tooling.
- Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other STEM discipline is highly desirable.
