Assistant Director of Collections to join our growing team in Poughkeepsie, NY.
As the Assistant Director of Collections, you will direct and coordinate all collection activities within the credit union, as well as supervise the collection department, and manage collection activity to meet the credit union’s goals and objectives.

*This position can be a hybrid of on-site and remote work after approximately 6 months.
Schedule: Monday – Friday between 8am – 6pm.
What We’re Looking For (Qualifications):
- 3-5 years of experience in collections, preferably in a financial institution
- Experience managing and leading a team, preferably in collections
- Must have in-depth understanding of and ability to interpret regulations affecting collection activities
- Knowledge of consumer and real estate lending practices and procedures
- Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Critical thinking; logical and analytical judgement
- Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and preferably Jack Henry’s Episys and IBS CarmPro
- Experience managing remote employees is desired

What You’ll Do As The Assistant Director of Collections (Responsibilities):
- Direct and monitor collection activities, ensuring delinquent accounts are controlled, payments are collected, and/or collateral is recovered
- Ensure all areas of the department function effectively, providing support to the Collections Supervisor as well as the Collectors and Administrative staff
- Manage a portfolio of escalated or difficult collection cases
- Maintains oversight of total losses, VSI and debt protection insurance claims as well as credit disputes
- Make decisions on delinquent collateral secured loans, including when to repossess, when to authorize repairs, when to cover storage and impound expenses, setting auction floor prices, and approving final sale
- Maintain oversight of the foreclosure process including required notices and filing with DFS Foreclosure Database
- Hire and train department employees, evaluate and measure their performance, and provide trainings
- Maintain the Collection Department Manual and administer the collection system (CarmPro) and payment/recovery system (RePay)
- Additional responsibilities as assigned
Pay: $73,000 - $83,000 / year, based on experience
