We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Sales & Use Tax Professional to join our accounting team, focusing on the United States, Canada and Ireland. The Sales & Use Tax Professional will play a vital role in ensuring compliance with sales and use tax regulations, managing related processes, and providing expertise in optimizing the organization's tax position. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of sales and use tax laws, demonstrate strong analytical skills, and have a proven track record of successful tax management.
\n- Manage Avalara, including configuration, maintenance, and ensuring accurate implementation of tax rules and compliance, to streamline and optimize the organization's automated tax processes.
- Maintain balance sheet reconciliations for sales and use tax accounts, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to accounting standards to support the organization's financial integrity.
- Manage the process of sales tax refunds, including the initiation, tracking, and timely resolution of refund requests.
- Communicate and collaborate with relevant taxing authorities when appropriate.
- Perform monthly completeness and accuracy checks between Salesforce, Netsuites and Avalara.
- Manage sales and use tax exemption certificates, including the verification, organization, and maintenance of accurate records.
- Assess sales tax nexus while continuously monitoring changes in tax laws, jurisdictions, and regulations to ensure accurate compliance to minimize the risk of potential liabilities for the organization.
- Create and maintain documentation for processes, including education documentation for internal stakeholders.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 3-4 years of relevant experience.
- Strong understanding of sales & use tax regulations for the United States, Canada and Ireland.
- Exceptional communication skills.
- Detail oriented with a high level of accuracy.
- Professional demeanor and strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Proficient in Excel.
- Avalara and Netsuite experience preferred.
