DISPATCHER – SERVICE DEPARTMENT
The Dispatcher for the Service Department is responsible for responding to emergency and non- emergency calls for assistance and information. The duties for this position include monitoring routes, updating call logs, and recording call information.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Handles a high volume of emergency and non-emergency calls in a consistently professional manner
- Ensures customers/clients, vendors, visitors, and other employees are consistently treated in a professional manner
- Creates, dispatches/assigns, and closes service tickets
- Performs data entry operations (i.e., service calls/requests) in the company database ensuring that all information is complete and accurate, updating as needed
- Ensures completion of work orders
- Review mechanics’ time worked submission for accuracy and completion prior to submission to payroll
- Review, identify, and report uncompleted Preventative Maintenance tickets
- Maintain vacation calendar in MS Outlook for relevant staff (e.g., mechanics, helpers, etc.)
- Generate and distribute Daily Call Reports for Executive management team
- Generate, review, update, and distribute Shutdown List to relevant staff twice daily
- Transfer phone system to answering service for coverage during business off hours
- Coordinates the preparation and distribution of written departmental materials ensuring content is complete, accurate, and error-free
- Establishes and maintains department historical files
- Manage all safety performance measures, documentation and training records in collaboration with field operations
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate’s degree or commensurate dispatch work experience, previous work in the elevator industry preferred
- Intermediate skill level pertaining to the operation of office equipment (i.e., multiple line telephones, copy/fax machines, etc.)
- Typing speed: 50-60 wpm
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including business writing, editing, and proofreading skills
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- 2 years of dispatching experience preferred

- Demonstrate strong commitment and compliance to TEI EH&S Policies, Procedures and Industry
Standard Safe Work Practices. Attend and participate in quarterly safety training classes, safety meetings, complete required monthly Field Compliance Assessments (FCA’s) 4-per month, 48-per year timely.
Continue to work to foster an injury-free workplace and take those corrective actions to identified deficiencies observed in the field. Notify your direct report of any unsafe conditions in the work place and communicate with your direct report union or company related safety concerns, so they can take the appropriate safeguards to mitigate in compliance to Elevator Industry Safety Standards, Local, State, NYC-
DOB and Federal-OSHA applicable laws and regulations.
- Partnering with General Contractors, Building Owners, Property Managers, Engineers and Consultants to ensure the workplace is free from unsafe conditions and recognized occupational hazards
- Respond appropriately to emergency situations and assists when possible, but when you cannot assist be alert and notify the NYFD or NYPD when situations arise out of your control.
- In accordance with the TEI EH&S Environmental Protection Program (EPP)it is our policy to protect the natural environment through sound practices that reduce waste generation. Management is responsible for ensuring the use of only company approved materials and services. Properly dispose of 5-gallon bucket or 55-gallon drum waste streams generated by our clients. TEI will ensure proper pickup and disposal from a certified and licensed waste handler in compliance to NYS, Federal and EPA laws and regulations.
- Report all accidents, incidents, near misses and close calls with the shifts end in accordance with the TEI
- Accident / Incident Reporting Policy and Procedures.
- All PPE provided is to be inspected daily and worn for the task(s) at hand. Report any damage or frayed equipment to your immediate Superintendent / Manager for replacement as needed.
- Maintain good housekeeping on all jobsites to avoid an unwanted incident that could lead into a recordable accident.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $23.00 per hour
