Job Description
Job Title: Plant Manager
Location: Fargo, ND (Onsite)
Duration: Fulltime
Client is looking for a dynamic Plant Manager to oversee the Fargo Sunflower Processing Plant. This individual will manage the performance and efficiency of the Fargo Processing plant. This position is responsible for managing the production operations to include quality, safety, staffing, training, people development, and cost control.
General Purpose
Work with production supervisor, plant maintenance, warehousing, procurement, quality, and safety, to optimize plant performance.
Maintain a high standard for the manufacturing operation to ensure products conform to established customer and company specifications.
Develop and implement long and short-term programs to increase productivity and reduce inefficiencies.
Using a sales forecast, plan, and coordinate production runs to exceed customer expectations. This includes preparing daily production orders and posting consumption.
Monitor and implement Key Performance Indicators to measure daily performance.
Hire, train, develop, and evaluate plant staff.
Forecast raw materials and packaging requirements sufficient to support production schedules.
Establish or adjust work schedules and SOPs to meet production requirements.
Ensure production and maintenance activities comply with company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
Coordinate with corporate engineering team to implement process improvement capital projects.
Manage plant expenses to an annual budget.
Support plant team by stepping into problem areas and providing solutions to challenges.
Other duties may be assigned.
Education And/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree in industrial or mechanical engineering or equivalent work experience.
Grain manufacturing/processing experience a plus.
5-10 plus years of experience in manufacturing management, preferably in grain cleaning.
Knowledge and experience with Lean Manufacturing principles a plus.
Working knowledge of software to include but not limited to Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Outlook.
Experience with using a company software program to monitor efficiency and build out production.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variable situations where only limited data exists.
Ability to develop, implement, and manage Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
A solid understanding of FDA’s Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) rules and regulations.
Understanding SQF food defense standards.
General knowledge of HACCP and Allergen Risk Management.
