Job Summary:
The Sterile Processing Tech Supervisor is responsible for the management of the sterile processing department of a healthcare facility. The role recruits and trains the Sterile Processing Technicians and ensures that all instruments, materials, and equipment used for medical procedures are properly sterilized and maintained in a hygienic condition. Key responsibilities:
• Manage and supervise all operation activities related to the Sterile Processing Department.
• Ensure that all Sterile Processing Technicians are following the regulations, standards, and guidelines regarding antiseptic techniques and sterilization process.
• Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and SOPs for all aspects of Sterile Processing.
• Train, supervise and evaluate Sterile Processing Technicians to ensure that all processes are performed efficiently, effectively, and in compliance with standards.
• Oversee communication with clinicians regarding sterilization procedures, equipment availability, and any maintenance issues.
• Develop an inventory management system to ensure the availability of all essential equipment, materials, and instrumentation required for surgical and invasive procedures.
• Ensure that the Sterile Processing Department operates in compliance with infection control policies and regulations.
• Maintain quality management systems to ensure high level of service provision by the Sterile Processing Department.
• Conduct routine assessments of the Sterile Processing Department’s performance, recommend improvement strategies, and identify areas of compliance.
Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician (CSPDT, CRCST) and/or 2-3 years of related experience with an Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Supervisory experience in a Sterile Processing setting preferably with an acute care facility.
• Strong understanding of infection control policies and regulations Industry experience in a similar job role is preferable.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage and coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to build relationships and resolve issues with clinicians, colleagues, and management.
• Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment.
Working conditions:
The Sterile Processing Tech Supervisor will work in a medical facility. This is an administrative role with intermittent rounds to the Sterile Processing Department. The role may require both sitting and standing while conducting administrative or operational tasks, and the Supervisor can expect to work extended days and/or weekends occasionally.
