What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Supervisor I position at Tekni-Plex?

Summary/Purpose: 

 We are looking for a Production Supervisor who is Safety Focused and will monitor our production operations and ensure that they deliver maximum quality in a profitable manner. Your duties will include monitoring employees٫ organizing workflows and analyzing the efficiency of manufacturing processes.

You should be highly competent and comprehend complex operations. We also expect you to be able to optimize day-to-day activities while minimizing the costs.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS:  include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Establish daily, weekly and monthly objectives and communicate them to employees

 

  • Ensure strict adherence to Safety guidelines to our Cardinal Safety Rules and support Safety Committee

 

  • Oversee Safe use of equipment and monitor unsafe acts and conditions

 

  • Manage the workflow by assigning responsibilities and preparing schedules

 

  • Guide and coach employees, monitoring their performance and coaching for improvement

 

  • Prepare reports on performance and progress and present to staff

 

  • Detect opportunities in efficiency and work with team to implement solutions to drive KPI performance

 

  • Leverage our TWI (Training Within Industry) to training and improve our processes

 

  • Dynamic thinking and problem-solving abilities.

 

  • Good practical experience with MS Office

 

  • Strong organizational and leadership skills, together with a results-driven approach

 

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills in a union setting

 

  • Follow Up and Follow Through

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises up to 60 employees in the Production and/or Quality Control and/or Material Handlers and/or Maintenance.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's Safety Philosophy, policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, select, train and instruct personnel.  Good interpersonal, organizational communication and mechanical skills.  Computer skills required for multiple graphs, reports and charts.  Manufacturing experience preferred.  College degree in a related field; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees, customers, and the general public.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as statistical inference.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit.  The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk and hear; and smell.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
