Database Administrator

Description:
This is an exciting and dynamic position in which the prospective candidate will perform tactical and strategic tasks to support new and existing database applications and across multiple manufacturing sites. The candidate will have the opportunity to work cross-functionally across the Valbruna enterprise, including engagement with Manufacturing, Application Development, Operations, Cyber Security, and external vendors.
Duties and Responsibilities
Interact with internal business customers regularly to consolidate and analyze requirements and present them the design results
Define high-level standards for database management (and own responsibility for them)
Manage, monitor, and maintain our SQL databases, ensuring optimal performance, availability, and security
Identify and implement process improvements in various database aspects - Control, performance monitoring, user access and database security
Diagnose user issues and respond to service request as necessary
Installation, administration, and troubleshooting of diverse database systems
Create/maintain ETL architecture and provide strategy related to data cleansing, data quality, and data consolidation
Creates database objects such as stored procedures, triggers, and packages, and perform tuning, database administration, and troubleshooting
Support multiple system environments for development, testing, and production releases
Participate in afterhours maintenance and deployment cycles as needed
Participate in special projects and performs additional duties as required
Plan and implement effective backup, recovery and business continuity strategies
Perform system builds and comply with security standards, release management, change management and quality assurance standards
Design in writing, MS SQL database structures as well as make design enhancements to existing MS SQL databases based on application requirements
Develop and maintain documentation for all elements of existing and new database designs
Skills and Experience
Must be proficient in SQL query optimization and database design
Demonstrated ability creating and maintaining procedural and systemic documentation
Ability to prioritize, multi-task, while also making effective and timely decisions
Ability to align tasks and activities to departmental/organization direction
Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools
Strong understanding and applied knowledge regarding high-availability strategies including Clustering, Mirroring, Replication, Availability Groups, and Standby Servers
Experience working with Windows server, including Active Directory
Experience with backups, restores and recovery models
Experience designing, building, implementing, and maintaining a data warehouse is desired
Excellent written and verbal communication

Ability to educate, communicate and effectively present ideas/plans with business and IT stakeholders to gain consensus on requirements

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in information technology or related field
5 years of MS SQL Server Administration experience required preferably related to production support and on call
MCTS, MCITP, and/or MVP certifications a plus
