Governance Specialist

Job Description:
- Provide comprehensive support for various governance entities, including the Board of Trustees (BOT), Executive Committee (EC), Election Oversight Committee (EOC), Committee on Governing Documents (CGD), District, Officer, and ABP Nominating Committees, District Forums, and the General Assembly.
- Assist in logistic preparations and provide support for Annual Meeting governance functions and other BOT and governance-related activities.
- Execute administrative responsibilities for BOT and other governance meetings, including scheduling virtual meetings via Zoom, tracking actions, drafting member communications, compiling information and reports, drafting minutes, processing reimbursements, and providing logistical information to Board members.
- Manage the Board of Trustees orientation process for incoming Trustees and Officers and other leadership development opportunities as needed.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, FAQs and other types of communications for department and committee activities.
- Collaborate to oversee volunteer committee appointment process, including managing applications and references, internal and volunteer leader coordination, communication drafting, and database upkeep.
- Manage the Election Oversight Committee
- Facilitate election administration, including eligibility verification, paperwork organization, and EOC meeting coordination. Collaborate for seamless project management, communication drafting, candidate statement proofing, and message deployment. Opportunity for expanded responsibilities, including support for occasional evening conference calls up to 5 times per election cycle.
- Maintain and update department-related areas of the website, Personify database, and leadership calendar.
- Assist in development of annual departmental budget.
- Respond to member inquiries, correspondence, and requests for information.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Travel to meetings as necessary.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Professional and survey software. Experience with Personify a plus.
- Minimum of five years of experience, with administrative, association, and/or governance experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Excellent communication skills including writing, editing, and proofreading skills; ability to work with a wide variety of people, including members, officers, and colleagues.
- Ability to work some evenings and weekends.
