What are the responsibilities and job description for the Commercial Construction Estimator position at Tektree?
The Estimator is responsible for preparing complete, thorough, and professional estimates by performing the following duties:
· Preparation of our Bid No Bid document for analysis.
· Review bids and proposals for accuracy and compliance with plans, specifications, division one requirements as well as compliance with any other up-front documents before presentation of the bid for review and analysis by construction and senior management.
· Customer interface, our customers are our life blood, effective communication is critical to continuing our successful relationships.
Critical Abilities:
- Execute quantity survey of assemblies according to plans and specifications.
- Ensure that assemblies are estimated per the relevant designations as indicated on plans: - UL, RAL, GYPSUM ASSOCIATION, etc. or any other association with local, regional, and national jurisdiction with code related matters.
- Make pre-bid site visit to establish logistics for stocking projects, ingress-egress, deck heights and type of existing construction (if project is a remodel), site layout areas, parking areas, and any local and or county code enforcement, work hours, noise levels, etc.
- Be able to use estimating software (On Screen Take Off, using electronic digitizer and transferring take-off information to estimating software – Quick bid).
- Develop estimated based on scope requirements or on all items normally provided for specific Clients.
- Be able to co-ordinate any specific requirements that may only be indicated on Structural and or MEP drawings.
- Prepare proposals for project based on estimates indicating all inclusions and exclusions from scope of works, schedule, or related documents.
- Be able to identify any inconsistency and prepare RFC / RFI.
- Estimate any requested alternate pricing for sections of work that may be requested with bid proposal.
- Be able to present estimated scope of work in an estimating format to the construction manager and other senior officials for their review and application of labor production factors, equipment, scaffolding, tools, safety, general conditions, and any other project specific requirements.
- Request current material pricing from at least three major suppliers based on materials list generated for the specific project.
- Assist Project Manager with cost Estimate of all large Post Contract Drawing Changes.
- Any other related duties assigned by the Director of Estimating.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture or construction management or five years relevant Construction Experience.
- Must have strong computer skills and be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel etc.
- Must have strong writing and effective communication skills.
- Must be able to work under pressure and handle multiple and varied job tasks.

- Commercial Drywall and Acoustical Solutions: 3 years (Preferred)

Salary: $70,000.00 - $84,992.00 per year
