Supervises plant Food Safety, Product Quality, and SQF requirements by directing and coordinating activities consistent with established goals, objectives, and policies. Follows direction set by Corporate Quality Manager & Plant Manager to meet organizational goals.

Responsibilities/duties:

  • Need a strong bilingual Quality Supervisor who is local to El Paso Required
  • Organizes and directs the efforts of the Laboratory personnel to effectively monitor the quality of raw materials, semi-finished and finished goods.
  • Investigate field complaints as related to Reading-produced products.
  • Participates in the development of new products and new applications related to the Reading Plant.
  • Participates in project feasibility planning in cooperation with other Client departments, as related to the Reading Plant.
  • Evaluate competitive products and compare them with current and proposed Client products.
  • Maintains Quality Control records for all raw materials, semi-finished and finished goods monitored, in keeping with good Quality Assurance practices.
  • Reports any deviation in established quality levels to Reading Management.
  • Works with a minimum of supervision, which normally takes the form of administrative direction.
  • Maintains safe working conditions in the Laboratory area.
  • Summarizes statistical data generated in routine or special testing.
  • Performs general responsibilities of the Client Management position.
  • Works with Production as necessary to develop necessary Standard Operating Procedures or Standard Operating Conditions as required.
  • Works with Production on quality problems.
  • Performs duties on process performance as required.
  • Performs audits of Client’s finished goods as required.
  • Performs aging studies on finished goods.
  • Administers the Returned Goods Procedure, sample, inspect, report, and disposition.
  • Train Quality Control personnel.
  • Conducts food safety and defense self-inspections and reports on deficiencies.
  • Acts as SQF Practitioner with the following responsibilities:
  • Oversees the development, implementation, and maintenance of the SQF system
  • Ensures the integrity of the SQF system through verification and validation of the system
  • Communicates aspects of the SQF system to relevant personnel
  • Obtains HACCP training
  • Has an understanding of the SQF Code and requirements
  • Performs other duties as directed by Supervisor/Manager.

Position Qualifications

  • Education/Work Experience: bachelor’s degree in science, Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years in a management position in a food-related manufacturing plant environment
  • Minimum of 5 years of food safety/quality experience
  • HACCP Certification Required
  • GFSI (SQF) and Internal Auditing certification preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $55,000.00 - $69,628.00 per year
