What are the responsibilities and job description for the Walnut Production Manager position at Tektree?
Schedule is Mon-Fri, day shift depending on company needs.
The Walnut Production Manager must be comfortable supervising a team of employees. It is the responsibility of the Walnut Production Manager to have open communication with employee, supervisors, peers as well Ownership. The Walnut Production Manager develops and implements production standards that will improve efficiency of operations in the production area through effective implementation of continuous improvement tools, cost reduction, inventory, safety, GMP and Quality program procedures. Directly manages the daily actions of the production area.
Key Duties
- Understand the production schedule for each of his/her departments and ensure that the schedule is completed. If the schedule is not completed it must be communicated to the scheduler for changes to be made.
- Ability to provide process analysis and make recommendations on solutions to process improvements. Ensure permanent solutions are implemented for re-occurring problems.
- Communicate needs with maintenance and operations management to ensure all equipment is functioning correctly, safely and within food safety requirements.
- Develops and directs strategies conducive to attaining a healthy morale through: Training and development of personnel, motivation of all workers, promoting teamwork.
- Participates with Safety, Sanitation, Quality and other Committees & actively participates in the HACCP Team, responsible for but not limited to Internal auditing, training, implementation, and corrective actions.
- Develop and manage the department budget including labor, repair and maintenance, supplies, etc.
- Ensures all food safety regulations, and operational processes have been applied effectively to include education, knowledge, awareness, and application.
- Develops and/or updates standard operating procedures, worker's instructions, and one-point lessons.
- Must train all employees within the department by procedure in coordination with the Training Department and Health and Safety.
- Gives timely performance reviews to each employee as to achievements and objectives and changes existing strategies whenever necessary to reach those goals.
- Establish and set productivity goals by process.
- Coordinates efforts with the team to reach or exceed established standards of production, such as overall equipment efficiency (OEE), waste/scrap factors, and machine downtime.
- Oversee inventory processes for all productive material handling and consumption virtually in our ERP, including work order reconciliation.
- Coordinate manpower requirements by increasing or decreasing personnel and overtime to meet changing conditions.
- Ensure audit readiness, high customer satisfaction, and excellent OSHA rates.
- Collaborates across departments and shifts to determine sequencing of operations and priorities.
- Communicate with their direct Manager and Human Resources regarding department staffing needs.
- Provide support and guidance to Supervisors for resolution of grievances and administering disciplinary action.
- Other duties as assigned.
Safety And Plant Policies & Regulations
- Understand and comply with Cal-Osha regulations and Company policies as they pertain to the safety of all employees.
- Read, understand, and acknowledge company policies as written in the Employee Handbook.
- All employees are required to adhere to all Food Safety requirements and programs including but not limited to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Food Defense and Allergen Programs.
- Food safety training will be completed a minimum of once a year.

Salary: $70,706.00 - $90,000.00 per year
