Salary: Starting Salary $38,000/ Year

Telaya Wine Co has a very intense focus on hospitality and the delivery of The Telaya Experience. Telaya Wine Co. believes that each team member makes a significant contribution to the company’s success. This job description is designed to outline primary duties, qualifications and job scope. It is not meant to limit you or the Winery to only the work identified within this document. Telaya Wine Co. expects that you will offer your services where and when they are necessary to ensure the success of the Winery and to maximize your own skill level.

Position Summary:

We are looking for passionate candidates with a positive attitude and a high work ethic. This candidate will be a service driven person that is versed in wine knowledge and willing and able to learn more about wine. In addition, he/she must have the initiative to provide excellent hospitality, as we believe that this is the most important element to offering a world-class winery experience (as we call it, “The Telaya Experience”).

The position centers on presentation and sales of wine in our tasting room(s) during tasting room hours. This is a multi-faceted position that requires initiative, attention to detail, high energy level and excellent communication skills and relationships with management, customers and staff.

Another element to this position is assisting in setting up, taking down and hosting special events that are held both in our tasting room(s) and at various venues throughout the city, state and country.

This person will be an ambassador of the Telaya brand, wines and ethics. He/she should represent our brand and company professionally, graciously and enthusiastically at all times.

The duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Preparing the tasting room for opening and closing on days it is open.
  • Hosting and educating customers about Telaya Wine Co., our story, our wines and our winemaking techniques.
  • Pouring samples of our wine while focusing on building our tasting room sales and wine club memberships.
  • Conducting educational tours of the winery, teaching our guests about winemaking, the facility, the equipment, the barrels and the wines made at our winery.
  • Accurately handle purchasing transactions, which includes operating a POS system, entering orders, updating member profiles, processing returns, assigning discounts, etc.
  • Restocking of wine and merchandise.
  • Washing and polishing glassware.
  • Various cleaning responsibilities as needed.
  • Ability to take the initiative to complete needed tasks when the tasting room is slow.
  • On occasion, perform general work in the cellar during harvest if needed.
  • Copy and display miscellaneous promotional materials.
  • Pack and take wine out to cars for guests when necessary.
  • Working events both onsite and offsite from the winery.
  • Availability to work weekends and evenings is a must.
  • Aiding in the planning of winery events: logistics, rentals, catering, music, etc.
  • Working to set-up prior to and breaking down/cleaning after events.
  • General office activities including but not limited to scanning, copying, and filing.
  • On occasion, delivery of wine throughout the Treasure Valley for wholesale, retail and club customers.
  • Packing wine club installments to be picked up in the tasting room.
  • Shipping and packing of materials to be shipped domestically and internationally.
  • Attending meetings, workshops, and other client or industry events either as a representative or for education purposes.
  • General research projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.

General Competencies:

  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time, climb stairs, to sit and operate a computer, to lift 50 lbs.
  • Physically capable without limitations of standing for a period of up to 8 hours.
  • Physically capable without limitations that would inhibit safety working in a winery cellar during harvest.
  • General wine knowledge and the ability to sample a variety of wines.
  • Computer literate with working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Ability to learn regulations related to the industry.
  • Doesn’t hold back anything that needs to be said. Provides current, direct and complete and “actionable” positive and corrective feedback to others. Let’s people know where they stand. Faces up to problems with any person or situation quickly and directly. Is action oriented and is not fearful of acting with a minimum of planning.

Training/Education and Prior Experience Preferred:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and insurance.
  • Prefer 1 years’ experience in a winery related sales position or work or 3 years in sales.
  • International travel and work experience and/or language skills a plus.

Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $38,000.00 - $42,000.00 per year
