Reports to: Facilities Operations Supervisor

Salary range: $1,993 - $2,392 (semi-monthly)

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, hourly

Position closes: Open until filled

 

Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the minimum to mid-point of the salary range for the role. Hiring at the mid-point of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future & continued salary growth.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Facilities/Parks Maintenance Technician I performs daily routine and semi-skilled maintenance and repairs of County building and equipment across multiple locations/cities/towns, maintains grounds, parks and parking lots; performs Facilities/Parks Maintenance Technician II duties as assigned to cover absences.  


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The duties and responsibilities listed below are central to the job and the employee must be able to perform each function satisfactorily. Facilities:

(1) Perform scheduled rounds of County buildings and perform preventative semi-skilled maintenance on buildings and building equipment. 


(2) Coordinate, schedule and insure fire alarm inspections are completed on an annual basis and file the proper reports. 


(3) Perform semi-skilled plumbing, replace pumps; mechanical, electrical, trouble shoot and repair/install if needed. 


(4) Replace a wide variety of lighting ballasts as needed.  


(5) Perform semi-skilled boiler maintenance and repair as needed.


(6) Mowing, trimming, and upkeep of all County facilities and grounds including, but not limited to, removing weeds and debris; apply pesticides and herbicides as needed.


(7) Snow removal (manual shoveling) of all County facilities parking lots and sidewalks. 


(8) Perform semi-skilled carpentry duties to include, but not limited to, framing, woodworking, drywall install/repair and painting.


(9) Act as project lead to coordinate, schedule, order supplies and complete re-striping of all County parking lots annually.


(10) Perform semi-skilled metal fabrication and welding.


(11) Trouble shoot and perform semi-skilled repair and maintenance of various types of locks to include ADA push bars.


(12) Perform monthly inspections of elevators; schedule annual State inspections.


(13) Assist Office of Emergency Management with wildland fires or any natural or manmade disasters as needed.


Parks:


(14) Perform semi-skilled maintenance of County parks, trails and open space to include, but not limited to, pick up debris from property; mow, trim and hand-mow selected turf and meadow areas.


(15) Perform and supervise specialized and technical procedures in park, trail, and open space.


(16) Maintain ball fields and other athletic facilities.


(17) Monitor, clean and make necessary repairs to vaulted toilets. 


(18) Identify, report any graffiti or damage to park facilities and amenities; clean and repair as needed.


(19) Maintain playground equipment in proper working condition. 


(20) Perform waste management rounds of all County parks.


(21) Fabricate and install regulatory, informational and interpretive signs.


(22) Operate heavy and light equipment and trucks in all phases of parks maintenance and improvement.


(23) Assist with the design and development of landscaped areas.


(24) Fabricate parts and perform minor welding and installation.


Duties performed in both Facilities and Parks:


(25) Manage a series of Team calendars and input data daily; schedule and coordinate projects and assignments.


(26) Maintain and perform semi-skilled preventative maintenance and service on Facilities tools and equipment.


(27) Maintain accurate records/documentation of inspections/audits. 


(28) Order and track inventory of parts and supplies needed for all department functions and responsibilities, Process invoices for billing purposes. 


(29) Research, compile and obtain quotes/bids as needed to purchase, replace or repair equipment. 


(30) When assigned, act as project lead to other team members to successfully complete projects or tasks.




Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required. The list is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of all knowledge, skills or abilities that are required.


(1) Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Knowledge of: Microsoft products; basic hand and power tools; customer skills; MSDS; County building codes and U.B.C. code.

Skilled in: computer skills; mechanical aptitude; communicating effectively and efficiently with other team members, customer base and the public; time management; attention to detail; pride in workmanship;

Ability to: read and write instruction manuals for equipment; communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; independently analyze, prioritize and make decisions; coordinate and process a wide variety of daily work requests delivered electronically; meet established deadlines; learn and safely use a variety of equipment including, but not limited to, light duty snow plow truck, Tool Cat and attachments, scissor lift, front end loader, back hoe, zero turn mower, riding mower, trimmers, push mowers, back pack equipment, chainsaws, snow blowers, airless paint sprayer, parking lot stripper; pull various types of utility trailers; monitor and interpret computer based roof top heating and cooling units, trouble shoot and adjust as needed; program and service/repair irrigation systems, motorized equipment and small motors; work on high ladders up to 20 feet; work in lifts up to 50 feet; work in a jail facility in presence of inmates; stay calm in stressful situations.


(2) Experience/Education: High school diploma or equivalent; one (1) year relevant work experience; any acceptable combination of education, training and experience that provides the listed knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted.


(3) Visual Acuity/Hearing/Speaking: Must be able to write and read; able to hear and see to inspect mechanical equipment.  


(4) Physical Effort/Dexterity: Manual dexterity; ability to lift and carry 50 pounds; ability to use tools; ability to drive a car as well as various equipment; must be able to do moderate to heavy manual labor.


(5) Environmental Factors: Work is generally performed indoors but may require exposure to adverse conditions including, but not limited to, dirt, noise and extreme weather conditions; working around moving machinery/heavy equipment; slippery and uneven walking surfaces; possible exposure to noxious fumes.  


(6) Work Schedule/Characteristics: 40 hours per week; on call as needed for emergency situations.


(7) License/Certification Requirements: Possession of and ability to maintain a valid Colorado driver’s license; must complete NIMS certification 100, 700 and 800 within six months of hire; must complete CPR/First Aid as scheduled and annually.  


(8) Additional Requirements: Must be able to work on-call once a month for a 7-day period for emergency call outs; Inclement weather days require early mornings and possible 12 hour shifts. Will be exposed to cold weather and extreme cold weather at times.
