The Clinician provides person-centered behavioral health care services to clients experiencing a behavioral health crisis. The clinician oversees an individual’s crisis observation for up to 23 hours. Completes suicide and violence risk assessments. Collaborates with internal and external providers to identify and address immediate safety needs. Facilitates voluntary and involuntary inpatient psychiatric stays when indicated. Provides risk management safety planning and linkage to ongoing services. Provides ongoing supportive services to client who are at risk of re-entering a behavioral health crisis.

Essential Functions
- Assess clients in crisis to determine least restrictive disposition that will assure client safety
- Assess for voluntary admission options for individuals without a funding source.
- Authorize chapter 51.15 emergency detentions when appropriate.
- Coordinate admissions, when clinically indicated, to the appropriate receiving facility.
- Coordinate with police, referring facility, and hospital ER staff.
- Work with individuals and natural supports to create appropriate safety plans when clinically indicated and in consultation with the program supervisor.
- Coordinate client care and linkage to ongoing behavioral health services as assigned
- Able to react to change
- Be able to provide supervision of clients in group setting as needed
- Masters in Social Work or equivalent with 2 years of experience in a mental health, substance use, crisis, correctional or institutional setting.
- Must be able to work a flexible work schedule.
- Cleared background check from appropriate entity.
- Strong commitment to principles of recovery and trauma informed care.
- Commitment to work toward improving cultural sensitivity and inclusion as demonstrated by valuing diversity, recognizing personal limitations and having the desire to improve.
- Self-starter who enjoys working independently.
- Ability to view consumer needs and choices as high priority.
