The Position

Our facilities manager plays a pivotal role throughout the organization, maintaining our facility, managing continuous improvements, and ensuring that our facility allows us to carry out our mission. This person will collaborate across departments to best support our everyday programming and events, as well as larger community-wide opportunities. The facilities manager will fully oversee our 110,000 square foot facility, and through vendor and budget management will make sure that our operations run smoothly and that our capital investments align with our goals. This position reports to the Executive Director, will oversee the facilities staff including reception and events coordination, and will work closely with the lay-led Building and Grounds Committee; as well as interact regularly with all building staff and clergy in use and care of the building.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Oversight
  • Ensure that hospitality goals are met for all onsite visitors by creating a warm and welcoming environment throughout the facility
  • Set and implement goals for building cleanliness, safety, security and operational flow
  • Day to day management of custodial staff, external vendors, and contracted contractors and similar services
  • Oversee core building systems (Including HVAC, alarm, fire protection, garbage, recycling, composting, electrical, landscaping, snow removal)
  • Manage safety and emergency response
  • Manage facilities and capital budgets
  • Oversee the use of space for the building including our systems for room setups (5,000 setups a year)
  • Ensure that the staffing plan for facilities and reception meets the organizational needs
  • Interface with technological improvements where they intersect with fixed building elements
  • Mechanical Systems and Capital Improvements
  • Develop and implement plans for capital improvements and repairs for the building envelope
  • Oversee all facilities related projects
  • Ensure that core systems are functional, maintained and managed (HVAC, Electrical, Gas, Sprinkler Systems, CCTV, Elevators, Gas)
  • Assist in conceptualizing and supporting planned and future capital projects that may develop

EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • 5 years of experience in related field of facilities management
  • Ability to interact with confidentiality, integrity, and tact when working within the diverse community
  • Management/supervision experience
  • Budget management
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher
  • Highly collaborative in nature with both coworkers and volunteers
  • Experience with security and emergency planning

This position works fully onsite. Hours are generally 9:00am-5:00pm, Monday-Friday, with occasional evening and weekend hours, including major Jewish holidays and some weekend events. This position requires being on call for emergencies.
