Title: Atelierista

Position Type: Regular Full Time, 2024-25 School Year

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Atelierista at the Margaux School at Temple Judea plays a pivotal role in cultivating a dynamic and enriching learning environment centred around artistic expression and exploration. This individual will nurture a love for materials and creative processes, igniting children's curiosity and fostering their innate desire to explore, create, and innovate. Working collaboratively with teachers and the Pedagogista, the Atelierista will provide guidance and support to deepen their professional development in utilizing materials effectively within the classroom. Through intentional planning and facilitation, the Atelierista will inspire children to engage in meaningful artistic experiences, promoting holistic development and a lifelong appreciation for the arts.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Enhanced Learning and Creativity

· Foster an environment where children can explore and express their creativity through various mediums and techniques.

· Provide opportunities for children to engage in hands-on, experiential learning that promotes inquiry and discovery.

· Scaffold children's learning experiences by integrating art into all aspects of the curriculum, promoting holistic development.

· Ensure that children's interests, ideas, and voices are valued and reflected in the learning environment, fostering a sense of agency and ownership in their learning journey.

· Teach art an additional two days per week in the Club Judea After School program.

· Teach art in the religious school one Sunday per month of Jewish holidays.

Partnership and Guidance

· Facilitate partnerships and offer artistic guidance to support teachers in meeting goals.

· Support teachers in the development of creative expression aligned with Jewish values, themes and holidays.

Training, Collaboration, and Professional Development

· Provide specialized training and collaborate on personal goals per child, exploring diverse mediums.

· Conduct professional development sessions that deepen educator’s knowledge on the use of materials

· Collaborate with teachers and support them in designing the process for their annual art auction pieces

Educational Support and Management

· Assist with objectives and guide material use and studio design.

· Manage materials, studio space, and staffing for optimal learning environments.

· Communicate effectively and create immersive provocations for holidays and gallery setups.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· At least three years in program development in an educational or early childhood setting.

· Extensive experience working with early childhood and elementary age children and educational professionals.

· Teaching and leading experience in constructivist curriculum design and implementation; Reggio, Montessori, Waldorf, etc.

· Strong understanding of Jewish culture, traditions, and values, with the ability to integrate them into program activities.

· Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate teams of educators and build team culture.

· Commitment to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for children and families of all backgrounds.

Benefits

· Competitive salary range of $40,000-50,000 based on experience and supplemental teaching opportunities (camp, extended day, religious school).

· Healthcare Benefits:

o Medical insurance is provided to all full-time employees for the employee. Additional people may be added to this insurance at the employee’s expense. Plans are available for employees to purchase to cover dental and vision.

o Short term disability benefit

§ Percentage of salary contribution to the Reform Pension Board (RPB)after 5 years.

· Three weeks of paid time off throughout the year as well as major federal, school and Jewish holidays.

· Two weeks of paid professional development opportunities including both national and site-based after school training and coaching.
