About the Job
Reporting directly into the Senior Director of People, this is an experienced level Business Partner role with full spectrum responsibilities for all things 'HR' including employee relations, performance management, training & development, and compensation & benefits. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of the Canadian & US market and bonus points for Global HR knowledge in the EU.
This role is eligible to sit fully remote in North America!
What You'll Do -
Global Mobility
Support the relocation project for employees including conversion to contractors where applicable, PEO planning, Visas for CAN & USA, longer term sponsorship etc.
Oversee the necessary coordinating with Governance, Senior Leadership (VPs/Cs) including status updates and getting approvals
Manage relevant vendor contacts including Consultants and others assisting in the respective jurisdictions
Communicating and liaising with affected employees to assist with their resettlement including helping with documentation
Performance Management
Provide performance management guidance to people leaders including oversight of probationary reviews, guidelines for performance improvement plans, and coaching on progressive discipline to people leaders
Partner with people leaders for terminations/departures and provide support for off-boarding tasks including conducting exit interviews, deactivating users in BambooHR and other HR software
Provide training and support for the OKRs (objectives and key results) and GGs (goals and growth) process to people leaders and employees including onboarding to Lattice and communicating quarterly and annual deadlines
Employee Engagement
Onboarding and updating listing for OfficeVibe (employee pulse survey) as well as drafting reports for quarterly communications to the business
Participates in the Social Committee as well as corporate responsibility initiatives along with other employee volunteers to engage employees around various activities
Participate in DIBs Committee to conduct annual reviews, gather employee feedback, align events/donations with recommended best practices
Conduct employee engagement checkins as well as action planning based on feedback results (may include external employer branding like certifications)
Work with Marketing to develop employee content for blogs, social media approach for employer branding
Training & Compliance
Facilitate training initiatives including professional development planning, new manager onboarding, and policy rollouts, etc.
Demonstrates core competency in HR and organizational matters including health and safety, accommodations, accessibility, equity legislation, etc.
Provide 1-on-1 guidance to managers on employee relations including conflict resolution, clarification of employment standards laws, and overall best practices
Provide support in conducting investigations into harassment and other employee complaints including documentation and interviews
Remain current with employment standards practices including content development and ensuring policies are being followed throughout the organization via handbook or individualized policy documents

Compensation benchmarking via salary surveys and job levelling evaluations with people leaders
Cost/benefit analysis of total compensation including working with finance to support annual forecast reconciliation

Who You Are -
Degree, Diploma, or Certificate/Professional Development in Human Resources Management
Fluent in English (verbal and written)
5 years of previous HR Generalist experience ideally in a scale-up/mid sized business supporting multiple stakeholder groups with globally distributed teams
Demonstrated focus on results and business/operational improvements including meeting or exceeding HR metrics and or completion of stretch goals
Prior work experience in all fundamental areas of HR:
Employee relations (coaching, leadership, decision making, etc.)
Recruitment and selection
Compensation and benefits
HR law (employment standard, common law, occupational health and safety legislation, employment equity, employment contracts, etc.)
HR accounting
Performance management process
Budget planning
HR reporting (trending, analysis, recommendations)
Ability to write, understand and implement policies and procedures to all levels of the organization (junior employee to senior leader)
Ability to comprehend and communicate detailed instructions in a diplomatic manner and while maintain confidentiality standards for employee privacy
Ability to multi-task and establish priorities (project management experience an asset) and communicate status updates succinctly
Ability to maintain organization of maintenance schedule and files in a changing environment with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to work independently in a busy environment and proactive when faced with delays or roadblocks
Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
Working knowledge of Microsoft, GSuite, Applicant Tracking Systems, HRIS, and other commonly used computer software a must
