Position Overview:
We are currently seeking an exceptional candidate to join the High Point Plant as a Material Planner. The Material Planner calculates material requirements needed to support production and sales objectives at Tempur Sealy manufacturing locations and generates purchase orders or contract releases in accordance with pricing, delivery and quality specifications as enumerated in national agreements.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Generates orders releasing refined raw materials to support plant production levels and inputs required purchase order data into appropriate database.
- Performs daily cycle counts to monitor and control inventory days-on-hand and order accuracy to enable accurate calculation of future supply schedule requirements.
- Tracks and manages supplier delivery and quality performance.
- Tracks schedules for material supplies within production plans for receiving and maintains appropriate inventory levels to meet plant objectives.
- Participates, establishes, and maintains KanBan for inventoried materials.
- Places orders on non-national contract purchases as required by plant needs and inputs required purchase order data into relevant systems.
- Works with accounts payable to resolve discrepancies in receipts and invoices.
- Sources and recommends suppliers to ensure that supplied orders are an appropriate combination of price, delivery, and quality for non-contract purchase orders.
- Reschedules material and inventory as needed to meet production plans and needs.
- Obtains SDS records when ordering new materials and supplies.
Basic Qualifications:
- 3 years of experience in inventory management, purchasing, or material planning within a manufacturing environment.
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Management, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with computerized purchasing and inventory systems as well as proficiency in Excel is required.
- Strong problem solving, mathematical and analytical skills.
- Ability to develop, communicate and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with a diverse workforce, including hourly manufacturing, administrative, professional, management and executive level employees.
