Position Overview: The Heavy Truck Claims Adjuster will be responsible for handling the full life cycle of first party damage claims relating to heavy semi-trucks in the commercial trucking space. Following established processes, authority limits, insurance policy language, standards and fair claims handling guidelines. We will train the right person for this role! Responsibilities:
- Receiving First Notices of Losses from our insured’s, drivers and other involved parties.
- Recording loss details and maintaining accurate up to date claim files with all relevant information.
- Read, analyze and interpret insurance polices and endorsements to be applied. Verify coverage limits, effective dates and any exclusions.
- Work closely with our Named Insureds and truck drivers throughout the claims process providing guidance, direction and support.
- Coordinate on-site inspections and photo services to ensure complete assessments of each claim, the total damages and estimates to repair.
- Serve as the main point of contact between the internal heavy truck estimator and outside shops to obtain repair estimates that are fair and in line with current market costs. Breaking down estimates looking closely at repair methods, labor and parts pricing. Reviewing supplemental or additional repairs when necessary.
- Work with 10-4 team members and in-house subject matter experts on towing bills, repair estimates and other commercial trucking related discussions.
- Assess Actual Cash Values on Total Loss trucks using industry standard tools. Placing totaled trucks out for salvage and gathering actionable bids. Prepare and gather appropriate documentation.
- Utilize all information available to determine liability and subrogation potential.
- Set and adjust loss reserves accordingly. Maintain accurate payment histories within claim files.
- Work closely with an in-house estimator analyzing repairs estimates to ensure the best possible results and cost savings.
- Regularly communicate with all related parties including insureds, drivers, trucking companies, fellow adjusters, state/local agencies, wrecker services, independent adjusters, attorneys, Adverse Insurance Carriers, third-party administrators et cetera.
Qualifications:
- Highly motivated, positive and enthusiastic individual.
- One to three years of first party physical damage claims in commercial trucking a plus but not required.
- Requires excellent analytical, organizational and decision-making skills.
- Strong negotiation, communication and customer service skills a must.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
