What are the responsibilities and job description for the Broker I position at TEN Logistics?
An enthusiastic, instinctual, Broker has the ability to communicate effectively with customers, carriers and teammates is needed in our Eden Prairie, MN office.
The Broker is responsible for learning the business of logistics truckload brokerage. Duties include but not limited to covering loads, building carrier relationships, and serving customer needs. Potential growth opportunities into higher capacity brokerage role.
What does this job look like daily?
- Build truckload operations best practices.
- Providing customers with shipment quotes.
- Negotiate contract and pricing agreements with carriers.
- Cover loads. Find carriers to haul our freight and build relationships with those carriers.
- Updating customers on status of shipments and assisting with other inquiries.
- Meets annual revenue and margin goals.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Knowledge and Skills to be successful:
- Tenacious, curious, instinctual, enthusiastic, and professional.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills with customer, carriers, and teammates
- Calm professional who also has the grit, toughness, and adaptability necessary to thrive in today’s business world
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- Computer literate (MS Office, Outlook, Internet search), experience with TMS systems
- Good math skills, perform basic pricing calculations on the fly
- Excel and analytical experience/talent a plus
