Availability: Mon-Sun, 7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm, 11pm-7am

 

Qualifications:

  1. Registered Nurse - Active License in New Jersey
  2. Must have a driver’s license valid in the state of New Jersey
  3. Must cooperate with Tender Care and Department of Human Services staff in any inspection, inquiry, or investigation
  4. Must submit to a criminal background check, and be determined to be not disqualified by the Department of Human Services prior to working with individuals served
  5. Must agree to have name checked against the Central Registry of Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities
  6. Must complete an application to have name checked against the Child Abuse Registry Information (CARI)
  7. All employees hired after 6/15/18 shall submit to drug testing prior to employment
  8. All employees shall submit to drug testing conducted randomly and for cause

 

Job Summary: Competent Registered Nurse who delivers health services to individuals with disabilities who are experiencing mental and physical conditions.  The Registered Nurse will utilize the nursing process documentation and communication skills to collaborate with physicians and other team members.  Supervise provisions of consumer services.  Provides nursing assessments and care plans to the agency consumers.  Provides health education training as assigned, participates in planning and treatment planning meetings.  Perform direct care duties, and keep abreast with professional developments in nursing and related areas.  Maintains an effective system of records and reports.  Oversight of medical information, and medication training for clients and staff, as appropriate.  Performs other duties as from time-to-time, be deemed appropriate by the supervisor.

Agency employees are expected to: Maintain a good working relationship with individuals served, contract agencies, third party players, other social service provider personnel, families, staff and other stakeholders.  In addition, staff members are expected to exercise good judgment and problem-solving skills, function as liaisons to other agency programs, and in a professional manner.


Required Skills and Abilities:

  1. Experience in the supervision of those providing nursing care
  2. Knowledgeable about specific state laws and regulations governing practice and continually updates knowledge base.
  3. Able to multi-task and switch priorities throughout the day.
  4. Excellent writing skills, and the ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form.
  5. Must be able to lift/move the equivalent of 25-50 pounds when necessary to provide care
  6. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with individuals with disabilities, families, co-workers, staff, supervisors, funding sources, and other social service agency personnel  
  7. Ability to solve problems effectively
  8. The ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Supervision of LPNs, or others providing nursing care to individuals
  2. Provides feedback, performance reviews, and assists with hiring of nursing staff.
  3. Assist with budget development for medical care clients
  4. Provide medical training for all staff when needed.
  5. Other job duties as assigned
  6. Monitor the consumer’s use of medications through Medication Administration logs.
  7. Make referrals for needed medical services and confirming that follow-up care is rendered

Physical Requirements:  Mobility and ability to bend and reach during an eight-hour day.  Able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds. Able to sit approximately 2-3 hours per shift, stand or work 6-8 hours per shift, and drive a company van 1-4 hours per shift.  Has visual and auditory acuity sufficient to evaluate and treat a client's needs.  Fine motor skills and legible and accurate writing of reports, daily correspondence and presentation either manually or orally.  Ability to work an eight-hour day.

Working Conditions:

Position is based at various locations in Morris County, New Jersey.  Incumbent must be willing to work a variety of hours, including evenings and weekends.
