As an employee working in Patient Assistance, you will help patients who need financial assistance enroll in assistance programs so they can afford to receive the treatment necessary for their diagnosis.
Here's what might happen on a typical day…
Your unique role in patient assistance gives you the opportunity to advocate for patients who really need you during a tough time in their lives. Your organization skills allow you to easily track a patient through the process, and your communication skills help you to work well with your coworkers and keep all necessary people informed of your processes.
Medical bills add up quickly, especially when oncology and hematology treatments are factored into those bills. You understand the hardship this can cause which drives you to find any financial assistance that might be available.

You understand the criteria to receive financial assistance which allows you to work closely with the patients, the financial counselors and the patient advocates to screen patients and ensure accuracy of eligibility.

In conversations with patients, coworkers, and other professionals, you provide exceptional customer service through communicating respectfully and thoroughly listening to all shared details.
Having the ability and drive to advocate for our patients allows you to maintain relationships with current foundations as well as seek out any other foundations to provide assistance for our patients.
Your attention to detail puts you in a position to effectively manage patient enrollment, enrollment deadlines, re-enrollment, balances, etc.
Your go-getter work ethic will have you ready to jump in and help with any additional tasks.
For your safety, keep this in mind:

The position will require sitting for long periods of time with occasional stooping, bending, and stretching for supplies.
Any lifting should be limited to 30 pounds or less.
You will need sufficient manual dexterity for operating office equipment (keyboard, telephone, copier, etc.), and vision and hearing must be adequate for viewing computer screens for prolonged periods of time and hearing customers during in-person and telephone conversations.
We feel this position requires these basics:

A high school diploma or equivalent is required with a proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.

Your knowledge of medical terminology and medical coding is required for reviewing and submitting claims.

You may or may not be bilingual with previous oncology/hematology experience, but either of those qualifications would be a major benefit to you in this position.
