ABOUT THE JOB
The President of Tepa's East Construction Division will be responsible for implementing the company-wide mission and strategy set by the Chief Executive Officer and Board of Directors by establishing and overseeing standards of performance for the East Construction Division and overseeing the daily operations of the Southeast Construction Region. Standards are measured against goals defined in both Tepa’s and the East Construction Division’s strategic plans. This role is responsible for ensuring the division adheres to policies and procedures for reporting, project controls, financial controls, and employee relations.
- Drives growth and transformation of the East Construction Division by leading and overseeing the creation of a diversified portfolio of clients and capabilities which ensures stable long-term profitability.
- Develops and implements regional market growth strategies.
- Manages a robust business planning cycle which establishes objectives, strategies, and accountability metrics at the division level.
- Supports Native Employment and Economy Enhancement Plan “NEEEP” initiatives.
- Reviews program and project reports and financial statements to determine progress and status in attaining objectives and revises objectives and plans in accordance with current conditions.
- Conducts regular operational reviews ensuring the highest quality of project execution.
- Develops and implements plans to improve division operational effectiveness and efficiency.
- Evaluates performance of division leaders for compliance with established policies and objectives of Tepa and their contributions in attaining objectives.
- Builds division staff capability through strong performance management, mentoring, and development.
- Communicates the division’s status and direction to executive leadership and division staff.
- Promotes a culture of high-performance that values learning, a commitment to quality, and alignment with Tepa’s core values.
- Responsible for the direct supervision of the division’s Executive Vice Presidents, Vice Presidents, and Project Managers.
- Directs all management processes for the Southeast Construction Region including, but not limited to, contract management, business development direction, and program/project team oversight.
- Determines the selection of team members and approves subcontractors within the Southeast Construction Region.
- Conducts review of estimate and budget accuracy on Southeast Construction Region projects.
- Ensures the Southeast Construction Region’s positions are staffed with individuals that are competent in technical abilities, cost control measures, and administrative and customer service skills.
- Ensures Tepa is well apprised of all shortages or overages on budgets in a timely manner.
- Conducts weekly/monthly “Work in Progress Reports” on Southeast Construction Region projects of concern and updates senior leadership accordingly.
- Conducts monthly “Work in Progress Report” on all ongoing projects within the Southeast Construction Region and briefs CEO, CFO, and COO accordingly.
- Attends contract negotiations as required and attends all contract disputes.
- Works closely with Tepa leadership (CEO, CFO, COO, SVPs, etc.) to communicate to Southeast Construction Region employees everything that is going within all Tepa companies on changes, challenges, successes, and tribal matters.
- Work with Tepa HR to assure the Southeast Construction Region can hire, coach/counsel, and terminate employees and subcontractors as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by the CEO and COO.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Bachelor's degree in business, construction, or related field.
- 20 years of experience in the field of construction, including operations and pre-construction, with increasing levels of responsibility.
- 3 years of experience in a general manager, business unit leader, president, or CEO position at a growing, dynamic, geographically dispersed organization.
- Proven success working and leading a profitable and growing business unit greater than $20M in annual revenue.
- Robust project management, project controls, contract management, negotiations, planning, budget development, quality control, health & safety, and strategic planning experience.
- Experience with multiple contracting methods including firm fixed price, time & materials, best value, lowest price technically acceptable, cost plus, negotiated, etc.
- Previous military experience preferred.
- Knowledge of federal and non-federal construction and consulting industries.
- Expert knowledge of technical construction, analytical business management, and evaluation of financial accuracy of cost estimates.
- Knowledge of SBA 8(a) program.
- OSHA certification.
- Ability to articulate vision and gain alignment from key stakeholders across the company.
- Ability to develop and maintain relationships with clients.
