The Role:
The SCADA Technician will be responsible for programming, installing, and testing SCADA and plant control system for solar, solar and storage and other hybrid plants. The technician will support continuous improvement and operational excellence for controls and controls-related systems and equipment to achieve zero-failure rate.
Position Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the design and development of monitoring and control systems for utility scale renewable energy projects.
- Program, install, troubleshoot, test, and commission Remote Terminal Units (RTU’s), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s), & Human Machine Interfaces (HMI’s) for
o Active Power Curtailment
o Reactive Power Control
o MET tower data acquisition
o High Voltage substation SCADA
o Power Plant Control (PPC) for, Solar, Battery Energy Storage (BESS), and Energy Management Systems (EMS’s)
- Work with the following technologies and platforms:
o Controls: SEL-RTACs & ControlLogix
o HMI: Ignition
o Historian: Ignition, MSSQL, InfluxDB, and Canary Labs
o Network: SEL, Cisco, Hirschmann, Fortigate, and Moxa
- Troubleshooting: Putty, Wireshark
- Install and commission SCADA based on network diagrams, Device Points List, and IP lists.
- Coordinate with field technicians for on-site commissioning and installation support.
- Utilize diagnostic utilities to troubleshoot monitoring and control systems.
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in IT network systems or demonstrated experience to show competence.
- Ability to communicate with team members.
- PLC programming experience, including structured text and function blocks.
- Experience in SCADA development, Ignition experience a plus.
- Experience in setting up virtual machines on physical servers.
- Working knowledge of industrial protocols such as Modbus-TCP, DNP3, OPC-UA, IEC 61850 and ICCP.
- Experience working on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Been part of or lead Continuous Improvement/Lessons Learned program.
- Must have permanent authorization to work in the United States
- Travel, 20-30%
