Job Title: Educational Director - Terrific Tigers Learning Center

Job Description: Terrific Tigers Learning Center is seeking a dedicated and passionate Educational Director to join our team. As the Educational Director, you will play a vital role in ensuring that all children in our care reach their developmental milestones and are prepared for success in Kindergarten and beyond. Your expertise in early childhood education, leadership skills, and commitment to high-quality learning environments will make a significant impact on the lives of our children and their families.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement evidence-based curricula, policies, and procedures to promote high-quality teaching and learning in the classroom.
  • Create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment that fosters growth and development for children.
  • Develop and maintain a developmentally appropriate and integrated curriculum that encourages meaningful exploration.
  • Oversee and support teachers in implementing the child assessment system, using data to plan and individualize instruction.
  • Provide leadership and supervision to teaching staff, including Lead Teachers, Assistant Teachers, and Teacher's Aides.
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop lesson plans, schedule in-service training, and conduct staff development workshops.
  • Foster trusting partnerships with families, serving as a role model for positive family relationships.
  • Facilitate meetings with families to address developmental or behavioral concerns.
  • Ensure timely completion of developmental screenings and maintain child observations records.
  • Coordinate programmatic supports for children with special needs or individualized education plans.
  • Manage training and classroom supply budgets responsibly.
  • Collaborate with the Program Director to plan and implement professional development opportunities for staff.
  • Maintain compliance with state and city licensing requirements, teacher-child ratios, and health and safety regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Hold at least one of the following New York State Teaching Certifications: Early Childhood (Birth - Grade 2), Nursery, Kindergarten and Grades 1-6, Prekindergarten - Grade 6 certification, or Students with Disabilities (Birth - Grade 2).
  • Bachelor's degree in a specific field of Education (Early Childhood, Elementary, Special Education, etc.). Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of teaching experience.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Bilingual proficiency is a plus.
  • Experience working with infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and children with special needs.
  • Strong administrative, communication, and computer skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Commitment to professional development for oneself and staff.
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid, along with successful background clearances.

A person who does not have a degree in early childhood education may qualify to be a group teacher if they have a Baccalaureate or higher degree in one of the following:

· Child Psychology, so long as the person has 12 credits specific to early childhood

· Child Development, so long as the person has 12 credits specific to early childhood

· Elementary Education

· N-6 Elementary Education

· Special Education, Students with Disabilities (B-2) or Students with Disabilities (1-6)

· General Education, so long as the person has 12 credits specific to early childhood

For teachers who are fully certified, NYS Certifications in the areas below are acceptable:

· Nursery – 6th Grade

· Early Childhood (Birth – 2nd Grade)

· Childhood Education (Grades 1-6)

· Special Education-N-12th Grade

· Students with Disabilities Birth – 2nd Grade

· Students with Disabilities 1st-6th Grade

· Pre-K – 2nd Grade
