The Human Resource Administrator/Generalist will be responsible for completing a variety of tasks to support the daily operations of the HR Department. Responsible for promoting the culture of the organization by driving the employee experience throughout the life cycle of the employee. Primary focus will be to drive selection, hiring, orientation, and onboarding; employee retention, development and recognition; employee relations; payroll processing; compliance; and benefits administration/education.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with hiring managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Implements new hire orientation, onboarding, and employee recognition programs.
  • Implements programs and development opportunities to drive employee retention.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Support employees and managers by being the liaison and contact person for any employee related issues. This position will be supported by our PEO partner and HR consultant.
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Works directly with the Professional Employer Organization (PEO) and administers employee benefits. Promotes the organization’s benefits to employees and educates them on the benefit offerings. Reviews benefit offerings to ensure market competitiveness.
  • Prepares payroll for processing through ADP: corrects timecard errors, adjusts PTO, runs payroll reports, and ensures proper accruals and deductions).
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Administers workers’ compensation, leaves of absence, short-term disability, etc.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Participates in safety committee meetings and walk throughs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • At least two year of human resource generalist experience preferred.
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at a time.
  • Must live in MN and be in the office 2 times/week minimally
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
