We are looking for a skilled and team-oriented technician to test, inspect and troubleshoot electrical controls equipment in our state of the art facility.
Job Summary:
Under direct supervision conduct tests and inspections according to procedures and safety guidelines on electrical control equipment. Generate test reports and inform department supervisor of results. Perform factory testing operations with customers and other internal department personnel.
Essential Functions:
- Conduct tests on electrical control panels.
- Inspect equipment for visual imperfections and inaccuracies and ensure all screws bolts and electrical/mechanical connections are correctly tightened.
- Using proper safety gear and procedures power-up equipment with correct voltage and electrically test switches breakers contactors relays power supplies and all electrical operation.
- Check functionality of Programmable Logic Controllers Variable Frequency Drives Transfer Switches Power Monitoring Devices Starters Contactors and Relays.
- Follow all written Test procedures lock-out tag-out procedures and other safe work practices.
- Troubleshoot test unit failures to determine cause and effectively communicate results to get failures corrected.
- Maintain documentation of tests for clear reporting of results at the completion of the test.
- Construct necessary tooling/fixtures as directed by test supervisor and as required to properly test units or components.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Education/ Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Associate Degree or technical certification is a plus.
- 3-5 years related experience.
Knowledge/ Skills:
- Basic knowledge of various Industrial PLCs relay logic.
- Knowledge of devices such as Variable Frequency Drives, Power Monitors, Starters, Contactors, Relays, and Transfer switches.
- Thorough knowledge of electrical and mechanical assembly schematics.
- Familiarity with assembly tools and ability to read unit of measurements.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to use a variety of tools to test equipment.
- Organized and project oriented.
- Strong safety awareness and ability to follow detailed and precise instructions when applicable.
- Verbal and written communication skills.
- Good hand/eye coordination.
- Manual dexterity.
Training Requirements:
- Tesco Controls Inc. safety training including OSHA 10 hour.
- May be required to complete formal Tesco Controls Inc. production floor process training.
- Tesco Controls Inc. forklift certification training.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.
- Regularly required to sit or stand bend and reach.
