The Manufacturing Equipment Engineer Body in White will have extensive theoretical and hands-on experience in Body Shop automation. This role requires experience re-engineering automated equipment while it runs to fully achieve Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost targets, and internal customer requirements. This includes continuous equipment performance analysis, monitoring, optimization & improvement, and close alignment with people responsible for the operation. The Equipment Engineer assists the daily operation of every line, acting as the Leader of Technology across 4 shifts operating 24-7.
- Breakdown & downtime analysis to define and implement measurable corrective and preventative actions
- Objectively define and achieve OEE, throughput, and cycle time improvements
- Continuous process and automation optimization, including robot, PLC, HMI, Vision, Conveyance, and other auxiliary equipment
- Design / re-design cells, equipment, fixtures, tooling, and components in various production conditions (during core & non-core production time)
- Project management: both internal maintenance projects, and major contractor projects, including investment justification and management
- Ensure equipment and process safety compliance to applicable standards
- Spare part identification, cataloging and assignment of spare requirement
- Support and assist Maintenance in troubleshooting & recovering from difficult breakdowns and chronic equipment failures
- Develop & maintain proper documentation of: Production & maintenance processes; periodic maintenance tasks; equipment changes & specification (electrical, spare parts upgrades, mechanical), including drawings, operator instructions, and bulletins
- Study technologies to expert-level of understanding, utilizing internal & external technical resources to fully understand, teach and lead new / newly implemented technologies

- BSc, or B.Eng. in electrical, mechatronics, mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
- Clear understanding of machine safeguarding & equipment safety compliance
- 3 years of experience designing, implementing, and optimizing automated manufacturing equipment & processes
- Robot & PLC programming experience with Fanuc, KUKA, Allen Bradley, or equivalent preferred
- Robotic mechanical and electrical trouble shooting skills preferred
- Proven interpersonal skills and ability to objectively resolve conflict within a large group
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Able to work flexible hours and schedules as required

$80,000 - $264,000/annual salary cash and stock awards benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
