Tesla is currently seeking a motivated and driven manager to lead the manufacturing engineering team in Austin TX. This role requires strong industrial engineering fundamentals and the ability to apply first principles thinking to develop stamping tools from concept to production & have input to ne layouts & equipment. This role is fundamentally to manage & support all functions of the ME stamping team for future program development & collaborate with wider teams Engineering, BIW, Materials, NPI & Production including external suppliers to meet all program targets. The team is responsible for developing tooling & supporting factory design in a highly innovative way.
- Reports to Senior Manager
- Lead buy-off activities & homeline of new product launch for Hot & Cold stamping dies
- Responsible for achieving part quality, SPM targets, material utilization
- Works with local die team for change control / quality improvements
- Supports wider team in feasibility studies & design of new production dies
- Provides input to new equipment installation & layout designs
- Works with materials team on new product launch, material trials, quality investigations
- Works with vendors to ensure all targets are achieved prior to die shipping
- Works with vendors for onsite onboarding, safe working practices maintained, manages support schedule
- Responsible for schedule, hi-lighting risks & opportunities. Ensures all activities in place to hold schedules
- Understanding of stamping processes & die design is required
- Understands material properties for steel & aluminum
- Experience with stainless steel preferred
- 10 Years of stamping die build / tryout & production of class 'A' part
