Process Controls & Automation Technician, Lithium Refinery

Tesla's Materials Engineering group is seeking a Process Controls and Automation Technician for its lithium refinery near Corpus Christi, Texas. In this role, you will be a crucial member of the team responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of process control and automation systems. Your responsibilities will include supporting the design, implementation, and maintenance of control systems to optimize plant processes and maintain operational efficiency. Additionally, you will play a key role in supporting the commissioning and startup of the refinery.

• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of process control and automation systems to ensure their reliability and functionality
• Assist in testing and validating control systems to ensure they meet performance standards and safety regulations
• Calibrate instrumentation and control devices to maintain accuracy and consistency in process measurements
• Maintain detailed records of system configurations, maintenance activities, and equipment performance to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
• Collaborate with the engineering and project teams to support the installation and commissioning of control systems for new projects
• Investigate and resolve issues related to control systems, PLCs, and automation systems
• Assist in upgrading and optimizing existing control systems to improve plant operations and efficiency
• Ensure that all control systems and automation equipment meet safety standards and compliance requirements
• Play an integral role in supporting the commissioning and startup of the refinery, working closely with the project and engineering teams to ensure the successful transition to operational status

• 4 years of experience in refinery/chemical processing
• Preferred experience in Emerson DeltaV DCS and SIS or Safety Manager Controls Systems, Siemens PLCs, Allen-Bradley PLCs, Beckhoff PLCs
• Strong attention to detail for calibration and maintenance tasks to ensure accuracy and reliability
• Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation for compliance and reference purposes
• Willingness to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, operators, and maintenance personnel
• Proficiency in troubleshooting control system issues and identifying solutions.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and the ability to ensure compliance in control systems and automation equipment
• Capacity to adapt to a dynamic and fast-paced industrial environment
• Effective communication skills to report issues, provide updates, and collaborate with team members
• Dedication to ensuring the highest standards of quality and reliability in control systems and automation
• Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal
