What are the responsibilities and job description for the Engineering Process Technician position at Tesla?
Tesla is seeking energetic and highly motivated engineering technicians to join our electrode production team. You will be part of a ramp up program where your impact will contribute to piloting the future for a new product line. You will have the opportunity to contribute to both process development and equipment improvement. A strong drive to learn new skills and acquire knowledge will enhance your ability to support production operations. This is a hands-on engineering role where you will be challenged to operate machinery, implement design and process improvements, and develop production associates through hands-on training and training systems improvements to drive sustained operation and continuous improvement.
- Adhere to company policies of safety and conduct
- Operate and troubleshoot manufacturing processes through SPC and/or other data analysis
- Ensure process stability and quality of production output at assigned area
- Develop, maintain, and implement process changes and control plans
- Write and update manufacturing instructions
- Escalate issues to shift supervisor/manager and quality team when necessary
- Support engineering activities including process and equipment validations
- Train and provide leadership for production associates on equipment operation and processes
- Collaborate with maintenance, quality, and engineering teams to sustain and improve key process metrics
- Potential exposure to confined spaces, hazardous materials, and working at heights
- Participate in the continuous improvement of safety, quality, output, and tool uptime
- Back-up for all positions in their area
- 3 years of experience in a pilot or production setting
- Able to interpret mechanical and electrical schematics as well as engineering drawings
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel & Word
- Excellent attention to detail, good organization, analytical and reasoning skills
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities including safety/ergonomic concerns and yield and delivery concerns. Lead problem solving for small improvement projects
- Comfortable with frequent change of direction, dynamic work environment and passion to perform time-sensitive analysis under pressure
- Meet standards for physical demands: o Frequently and repetitively bend, lift and reach o Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding or other high structures o Able to perform assembly work and receive safety signals using sight, touch, and hearing
- Will be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to safety glasses, safety shoes, bump caps
- Experience interpreting statistical process control (SPC), Process Capability, and Gauge R&R is a plus
- Knowledge in CAD a plus
