Tesla is at the forefront of designing and building cutting edge products and places. The EHS Design and Engineering team aims to provide technical expertise in Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Turn-key factory design for current and future locations around the world.
Seeking a Ergonomics Engineer to design and develop technically complex work products that ensure compliance and standardization across vehicle and energy product design, factory design, construction, and launch. The ergonomics engineer directly interfaces with Design and Manufacturing engineering to bridge the gap from concept to production to ensure key integration of human capabilities criteria in design. The ideal candidate will work closely with internal cross-functional teams, external vendors and technology partners to develop world class human-factors and ergonomics solutions, which promote safer work environment, more efficient (lean) processes and maximum human performance and well-being.
- Lead EHS in Design for EHS integration into product design and factory development
- Perform technical analysis to evaluate, verify and validate designs against regulations and internal standards
- Create processes and improvements to integrate technology and digital modeling into a systems approach to managing risks
- Lead engineering reviews utilizing Virtual Digital Human Model (DHM) Simulations to ensure technical solutions are understood and acceptable for implementation
- Perform equipment design reviews and provide design guidance to vendors.
- Work with cross functional teams such as Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, to evaluate new vehicle / product/ and factory designs and ensure the Ergonomics requirements are implemented.
- Perform ergonomic analysis & evaluation, interpret specifications and guidelines, and provide technical recommendations supported by objective findings
- Train and mentor others in ergonomics engineering and work system design
- Perform process analysis of existing work content to solicit feedback to design out legacy issues
- Create digital standards and targets to ensure best ergonomics work-practices are part of the design
- Expert in NIOSH lifting Equation, Energy Expenditure analysis, 3DSSPP, RULA, REBA, Biomechanical Model, Fatigue Analysis, Push Pull Carry Tables, Anthropometric charts, Duty Cycle Equation, Strain Index, Force Exertion Calculator, other Ergonomic Evaluations tools.
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering (required); Master's degree in Ergonomics, Human Factors, Kinesiology, or related degree (highly preferred)
- Associate Ergonomics Professional (AEP) or eligible (desired); Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE) or eligible (preferred)
- Minimum 3 years related experience in a technology-based industry, where advanced manufacturing techniques are utilized.
- CATIA/3DX experience using DELMIA simulation software and Digital Human Modeling (DHM)
- AutoCAD and SolidWorks or advance computer skills
- Working knowledge of ISO Ergonomic standards
- Mastery of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Confluence, JIRA, and SharePoint.
- High level of interpersonal, oral and written communication skills-ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
