The Field Support Team is a team of highly skilled Solar Roof, Retrofit Solar and Powerwall installers. This organization is responsible for understanding, prioritizing and driving projects around improving installation efficiency and throughput for all residential energy products. As product and install experts they also support roll out of new parts, products and processes collecting feedback from installers and working closely with the engineering team to drive our "by installers for installers" product mission statement.
What You’ll Do- Manage Field Support Team consisting on Engineers (3-5) and Technicians (5-15). Further develop the team structure; leveling guidelines; training programs and hiring plans for engineers and technicians
- Build processes and systems to create a pareto around install efficiency detractors.
- Work with the team (and cross-functional organization) to develop projects and objectives to improve install efficiency based on top drivers (for all products). Provide application and design engineering with constant in-field feedback
- Rapidly improve installation performance and focus on providing on-the-job mentorship to exceed excellence on a supervisor level, crew-lead level, and installer/roofer/crew level
- Roll out latest processes & products update from design engineering, drive engineering trials and data gathering, report improvement potential and success to engineering
- Create a culture focused on safety using systems of accountability and recognition while following safety policies and procedures as outlined by state, local, OSHA, and Tesla policies
- Spend ~25% of time traveling
- A Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, etc), other technical discipline, work experience, or equivalent
- 8-10 years of leadership experience, preferably in a manufacturing or construction environment with demonstrated results in driving performance improvements.
- Advanced knowledge of roofing means and methods and residential solar/storage.
- Organizational skills – proven success in project management, engineering, communications, influencing others, cross-functional team interaction, and driving results on time.
- Communication/Presentation – data driven approach to understand root cause and corrective action for efficiency problem. Proficient in excel/powerpoint (SQL is a bonus)
- Vision for current/future team, willingness to grow in the role taking on more scope and supporting other departments.
- Ability to adapt to business needs, eagerness to learn, flexibility, and go-getter mentality

$96,000 - $258,000/annual salary cash and stock awards benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
