Tesla is looking for a Network lead/manager to join Network Engineering team. As a Network Manager, you will be responsible for managing team that builds, deploys and scale Tesla’s Data Center network.
This team is focused on building Data Centers and the network that allows Data Centers to function efficiently. They own the solutions that allow racks to be aggregated and Data Centers to be interconnected. Team's goal is to balance efficiency, performance and reliability to allow customers access to their applications and data.
As Tesla expands at a tremendous rate across all services, it is Network team’s responsibility to maintain quality and reliability of the Data Center network. Team looks for innovative ways to automate the operation of our network and drive complex issues to resolution.
- Build and manage team of Network Engineers
- Drive design and optimization of the future state of the global Tesla Data Center network
- Expected to identify optimal and efficient designs to manage traffic flows, failure scenarios and optimal capacity
- Work closely with other team members to design, build and maintain, new and existing network security
- Design, test and deploy network solutions following the defined change control process

Participate in Security & Network incidents response and remediation
- Drive root-cause analysis of events, which impact our internal customers ensuring that we improve our processes and designs in order to avoid impact in the future
- Requirements gathering, analyze, and propose solution to networking needs
- Monitor, analyze, and report metrics of network services
- Develop automation methods to rapidly deploy, configure, and update network equipment and document network knowledge base on operational Runbook
- Proven experience in a leadership role within network engineering, with a strong technical background in network deployment and management, complemented by at least 8-10 years of progressive experience in network engineering roles
- Advanced experience of Layer 2 and Layer 3 protocols, VPNs, and network technologies (TCP/IP, IPv6, BGP, OSPF, etc.)
- Strong Experience with Arista switches. Experience with Juniper and SONiC is additional
- Good cabling & optics knowledge
- Experience with various tools such as Protocol Analyzer, SNMP, flow, IPAM, RADIUS, Splunk, network taps, and load/stress testing
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to lead teams through technical challenges and roadblocks
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the capability to manage multiple projects and teams across different geographies
- Experience in cost optimization for network projects, including vendor negotiations, procurement processes, and lifecycle management of network assets
- Demonstrated leadership in fostering a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and learning within the network team, encouraging the adoption of new technologies and methodologies, with at least 5 years in a leadership role promoting technical and professional development
Compensation and Benefits
Along with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire:
$128,000 - $300,000/annual salary cash and stock awards benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
