What are the responsibilities and job description for the Structural Engineer position at Test?

The Structural Engineer works with manufacturing centers and project engineers to facilitate the development and implementation of structural designs and details in accordance with a variety of codes and standards. This role includes design, testing of new assemblies and evaluation of materials.
Essential Functions:
- Read and interpret building codes (HUD code, IRC, IBC)
- Develop and maintain structural calculations using timber design (ASCE7, NDS)
- Prepare CAD details and drawings as necessary to maintain construction manuals and/or supplement architectural plan sets.
- Perform code research and interpretation.
- Review perspective new building products for code compliance.
- Provide architectural plan review, engineering calculations, and phone call support.
- Maintain library of construction manuals.
- Assist with troubleshooting
- Ability to travel & possibly stay overnight
- Periodically follow homes during the construction process to obtain knowledge of the manufacturing processes and provide assistance to the production team
- Work toward obtaining PE license
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering with an emphasis in Structures, from an ABET accredited university.
- EIT certification or plans to become EIT certified.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD or similar AutoDesk product
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage priorities and projects based on assigned schedule and collaborate with facility team
- Proficient using programs such as, but not limited to, Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) & Adobe Acrobat Professional & Adobe Acrobat Professional
