The GIS Administrator will develop, implement, and manage the GIS platform for Teton County, including application configuration, spatial data management and related automated processes.
- Oversees the design, implementation, optimization, monitoring, process improvement, and maintenance of the enterprise GIS technical environment functioning as the primary environment administrator.
- Builds and maintains relationships throughout the enterprise to stay apprised of activities throughout the organization and consults with departments in the development of their GIS plans, goals, and objectives.
- Proposes budgetary requirements for GIS systems and provides long-range planning requirements for a sustainable GIS environment.
- Develop spatial databases in support of infrastructure mapping and geographic analysis.
- Performs complex research in accumulating, and evaluating the accuracy of, existing and new data elements from a variety of internal and external sources.
- Supports the relationship between the Teton County staff and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with visitors and County staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and County information; performs other duties as required or assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
- Associates Degree in Geography, Computer Information Systems, Database Administration, or related field, Bachelor's preferred.
- 3 - 5 years of progressively responsible experience in GIS digital mapping, cartography, geoprocessing, programming, spatial and statistical analysis and engineering surveying or geographic information systems, spatial analysis, geographical equations, etc.
Required Licenses and Certifications:
- A valid State driver’s license may be required.

- Professional and technical writing methods and practices
- Project management principles, practices and methods
- Fiscal and budgetary management and tracking
- Organizational and community planning
- Administrative principles and practices to include goal setting and program budget development and implementation
Required Skills in:
- Communicating effectively both verbally and in writing
- Handling multiple tasks simultaneously, under pressure, and in emergency and stressful situations
- Working efficiently both independently and as part of a team
- Organizing and prioritizing work to meet deadlines

Work Environment:
- Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment with some field work required. Field work will require exposure to weather conditions as well as walking over uneven surfaces.
