The Shelter Supervisor plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of shelter facilities, providing leadership and support to shelter staff during their designated shifts. This position requires excellent organizational, interpersonal, and crisis management skills. The Shelter Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations, ensuring the safety and well-being of shelter residents, and maintaining a welcoming and supportive environment. They will be responsible for physical site visits across a large territory.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervision and Leadership: Provide guidance, direction, and supervision to shelter staff during assigned shifts.
- Client Care: Address any emergent situations or concerns promptly and appropriately.
- Conflict Resolution: Mediate conflicts among shelter residents and staff, seeking peaceful resolutions and maintaining a safe and respectful environment.
- Reporting: Maintain accurate records of shelter activities and incidents. Prepare shift reports and share essential information.
- Incident Response: Act as a point of contact during incidents and implementing protocols as necessary.
- Community Engagement: Foster positive relationships with community partners, local authorities, and other stakeholders to support the shelter's mission.
- Zone Coverage: Shelter Supervisors will be assigned to a specific zone but may be requested to support a different zone depending on staffing levels or emergencies.
Qualifications:
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Have a valid driver's license.
- Must be able to drive during operating hours to visit shelter locations.
- Social work experience preferred.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to maintain professional demeanor during incidents.
- Knowledge of social services resources and support systems.
- Bilingual (preferred).
- Proficient in MS Office.
- Availability to work Monday – Friday from 7 AM to 5 PM
- On-call weekend hour required (Remote work only for weekends)
In order to be considered for this position, your driving record must not indicate any of the following during the past 3 years:
- Punitive suspension, denial, or revocation of driver's license
- Conviction for impaired or intoxicated driving (DWAI, DUI, DWI)
- Conviction of: reckless driving, driving with a suspended/denied/revoked license, hit and run or leaving the scene
- Conviction of 3 or more moving violations, at fault accidents or a combination
It is understood that your employment is to be on an "at will" basis. Neither our stating your salary in annualized terms nor our comments nor representations in any other respects are intended to express or imply that you will be working either for any particular duration or under a contract of employment. This position with Tetra Tech is temporary and on an "as needed" basis and will end.
